Local roundup: McKee helps WR girls win

Emily McKee scored 15 points to help lift Warrior Run to a 53-27 win against Midd-West in girls basketball Friday.

Jordan Hartman scored 13 points and Sydney Hoffman added 11 for the Defenders.

Canton defeated Sayre, 39-25. Aislyn Williams and Elle Binford both scored 10 points each for Canton.

Molly Ward had a huge night off the glass, grabbing 15 rebounds. Reagan Kelley and Courtney Weiskopff both had nine rebounds.

Central Columbia cruised to a 60-24 win over Lewisburg thanks to a 17-point lead in the first quarter.

The Green Dragons were led by Jamie Fedorjaka’s 10 points.

Jersey Shore fell on the road to Selinsgrove, 42-31. Aubrey Stetts led all scorers with 18 points and Sadie Griswold added nine.

Loyalsock was led by Sophia Gardner’s 15 points and Cassie Gee added 13 as the Lancers beat Hughesville, 54-38. Alex Snyder led the Spartans with 18.

Montoursville could not overcome Shamokin’s 8 3-pointers as the Warriors lost, 56-34. MacKenzie Weaver led the Warriors with 10 points.

• Jacob Evans had a career-high 21 points to help North Penn-Mansfield defeat Towanda in a Northern Tier League matchup, 67-54.

Logan Tokarz scored 15, Curtis Craig added 12 and Alex Stein scored 10 points.

Jalen Thomas and Justin Metzger combined for 30 points in Sullivan County’s 59-37 win against Lourdes. Thomas scored 16.

Sam Carpenter added 11 points for the Griffins.

North Penn-Liberty beat Williamson, 86-63. Brandon Thompson led Liberty with a 20-point performance. Noah Spencer scored 17, Colton Litzelman added 16 and both Duncan Zeafla and Kevin Alexander scored 11.

Brandon Thompson led Liberty with nine rebounds and a team-high five blocks.

Isaiah Niemczyk scored 15 points and Cooper Kitchen added 12 in Canton’s 60-52 loss against NTL rival Sayre.

Nate Ewing scored 21 points, grabbed five rebounds and made four steals as Jersey Shore went on the road and defeated Selinsgrove, 65-49. Trevor Gee added 11 points, eight rebounds and four assists and Tanner Lorson had four assists as Jersey Shore (8-3, 6-1) stayed within a game of first place in the HAC-I.

Montgomery lost to Line Mountain, 59-29. Steven Prince was the only Red Raider in double figures as he scored 10.

Lee Habalar scored 15 points as South Williamsport defeated CMVT, 44-39. Port Habalar scored eight points and Ben Manning had five.

Lewisburg fell to Danville, 78-61 behind a 30-point effort from Kayden Riley. Ben Liscum scored 15 points as Peter Lantz scored 13 and CJ Mabry scored 12.

• The Lock Haven men’s basketball team beat Bloomsburg, 95-80. Matt Cerruti and Christian Kelly propelled the Bald Eagles with 27 points each. 

• Lock Haven defeated Bloomsburg, 61-55, in women’s basketball. Riley Devine led the Bald Eagles with 17 points and Ahnera Parker added 15.

• Lock Haven wrapped up Day 1 in college swimming at the Vulcan Invitational at California (Pa.). Kristin Allen turned in a strong performance in the 200 fly in 2:22.27 and was also second in the 200 back (2:21.11). She helped the 400 medley relay team place second.

Lycoming junior Cara Zortman won two individual events to lead the Lycoming College women’s swim team and sophomore Jake Booth won two events for the men’s team, but King’s College was able to sweep a Middle Atlantic Conference dual, winning 128-59 on the women’s side and 126-61 on the men’s.
