Golf tip of the week: Give your golf swing a little R and R

I have written thousands of golf tips, but there is only one that applies to all golfers regardless of their handicap: relaxation and rotation.

If a golfer relaxes the hands and arms, while rotating the shoulders, their golf game will improve immediately.

Muscle tension has destroyed more golf swings than all other swing faults combined.

Golfers seem to ignore the fact that a golf swing is nothing more than, an athletic move, as is baseball, tennis or any other sport that involves propelling an object with an implement. It requires an athletic stance, legs flexed, hands and arms relaxed. It’s the same feeling a shortstop would have when fielding a ground ball in baseball.

Relate it to the smooth motion that is required when throwing a dart or breaking a rack with a cue stick.
