High school roundup: Ross Eyer’s big day helps Muncy win again

Ross Eyer was a two-way force Saturday in Laporte, throwing six innings one-hit baseball and slamming a 3-run home run while helping Muncy defeat Sullivan County, 13-2. Eyer struck out 12 and went 3 for 4 with three RBIs and three runs and won his fourth game. Branson Eyer was 3 for 3 with a double and two RBIs and Max Rymsza added two hits and two RBIs. Gio Persun hit a double and drove in two runs with Loudon Boring adding a hit and RBI.

Karter Peacock and Tyler Bauder each walloped grand slams and Jersey Shore erupted for 16 runs in the final two innings of a 16-1, three-inning victory at Shamokin. The Bulldogs scored 10 third-inning runs and needed just 55 minutes to complete the victory.

Williamsport scored seven fifth-inning runs and put a scare into Central Dauphin after trailing by 12 runs but lost 13-7 at Bowman Field. The Millionaires cranked out six of their 10 hits that inning and scored four two-out runs. Deacon Brown went 2 for 2 that inning with an RBI triple and two RBIs. Elijah Frierson kept the rally going with a 2-out, pinch-hit RBI double and Cam Sims, Thomas Aversa and Brown then followed with singles. Williamsport had chances to change the game’s complexion but stranded 11 baserunners. Kydreece Burks threw 1 2/3 scoreless innings in relief for Williamsport, which hosts Central Mountain Monday.

Noah Gearhart took a no-hitter into the seventh inning, but Northwest made a dramatic last-inning rally and stunned Montgomery, 4-3. The Rangers scored four times in the bottom of the seventh to erase a 3-0 deficit and hand Montgomery its second Mid-Penn loss. Gearhart threw 6 1/3 innings of one-hit baseball and struck out eight. Caleb Hall went 2 for 3 and both Colby Springman and Thayden Miller had hits and RBIs for the Red Raiders.
