The Williamsport Crosscutters snapped a four-game losing skid by defeating the State College Spikes on Friday night, 7-4, at Bowman Field in an MLB Draft League game.
State College jumped out to a 3-1 lead after two innings, but the Crosscutters scored six runs between the sixth and seventh innings to take the lead.
The Crosscutters tied the game with a two-run sixth inning at 3-3. State College scored a run in the top of the seventh to go ahead, 4-3, before Williamsport’s four-run seventh sealed the game.
Robert Marinec went 2 for 3 to lead Williamsport and was also walked twice and scored twice. He was Williamsport’s only player with multiple hits. Lance Logsdon and Freddie Matos each had doubles for Williamsport.
Logsdon also led Williamsport by driving in three runs. Dusty Stroup was walked three times.
State College was led by Damiano Palmegiani’s 3 for 3 effort with a double, walk, RBI and run scored. Mark Vierling hit a home run for the Spikes.
Williamsport is home against State College both Saturday and Sunday to wrap up a three-game homestand. The Crosscutters head to Trenton for a three-game series Tuesday through Thursday before returning to Bowman Field for two games with Mahoning Valley on July 2 and 3.
