After scoring just one run through 14 innings in its first two games at the Mid-Atlantic Regional in Somers Point, New Jersey, West End's bats came alive in a 14-year-old elimination game on Sunday in five innings to defeat Millville, 12-2.
West End collected 13 hits and scored five runs in the third inning and another six in the fifth to secure the win.
With the win, West End plays Atlantic Shore in the losers' bracket semifinals today at 1 p.m. The winner of that game will play in the losers' bracket final at 7 p.m.
Angelo Birch, Aiden Vogt and Ethan McCollum combined for West End on the mound, scattering four hits and allowing just two runs.
Kyreek Bradshaw went 2 for 4 with a double, Ethan Nagy Went 2 for 4 with a double and three runs scored and Birch was 3 for 4. West End also got a 2 for 2 performance from Grant Vilello.
Trevor Yeager went 2 for 3 for Millville and was the team's only hitter with more than one hit.
West End opened the tournament with a 12-0 loss to Atlantic Shore on Friday in which West End was limited to just three hits. On Saturday, West End narrowly defeated Hopewell in a seven-inning thriller, 1-0, in which both teams were held to four hits apiece.
In Friday's game, Bradshaw was named West End's MVP and Ethan Nagy was West End's MVP in Saturday's contest.
