After trailing by three goals entering the second half, Jersey Shore scored three to force overtime before winning, defeating Warrior Run, 4-3, at the Millville Tournament on Friday in boys soccer.
Nate Bellomo scored three of Jersey Shore's goals after halftime, including the game-winner in overtime. Judah Kennel had a goal and assist for Warrior Run.
• Montoursville blanked Muncy in girls tennis, 5-0, on Friday afternoon. Kara Mann, Alaina Marchioni and Katelyn Good all won at Nos. 1-3 singles, respectively, with 6-0, 6-0 scores.
Erin Deljanovan and Jill Stone won at No. 1 doubles, 6-1, 6-0.
Jersey Shore's Peyton Dincher and Celia Shemory both won, 6-0, 6-0 at Nos. 1 and 2 singles, respectively, to propel the Bulldogs past Wellsboro, 5-0.
• In men's soccer, Penn College and Keystone drew to a double overtime scoreless draw. The Wildcats led Keystone in a shots advantage, 20-7, but couldn't find the back of the net.
Braeden Eckard preserved the shutout.
• Freshman Katryn Yocum kicked off her collegiate career in impressive style with an 11th-place finish in 16:25.40 to lead the Lycoming College cross country team's at the 4K Misericordia Invitational , and freshman Elliott Bello took 35th to lead the men's team with a 14:37.80 on the 4K course.
Sophomore Ali Clemens took 51st in a field of 91 runners in 18:28.20, and sophomore Hiyori Iai took 69th in 20:04.30 and sophomore Madisyn Neal, a Canton grad, finished in 20:42.80 to take 79th and junior Laurel Stoppard took 83rd in 23:30.60. Junior Mariah Rovenolt, a Warrior Run grad, finished in 24:56.70 and Ha-anh Nguyen in 26:40.30 to round out the team's top seven.
• As if a three-game sweep wasn't a rocky enough start to the 2021 season, the Lycoming College volleyball team moved out of the way just in time before a glass backboard in Lamade Gym crashed to the ground, delaying the nightcap with La Roche with the Warriors five points from victory. After a slight delay to clean, the Warriors did finish off the 3-0 (26-24, 25-15, 25-20) win over the Redhawks after Manhattanville won the opener, 3-0 (25-13, 25-17, 26-24).
The Warriors (1-1 overall) were led by eight kills and two blocks from junior Elizabeth Kelson and both freshmen Ava Coombs and Sydney Guethlein each had six kills, with Guethlein and first-year Arianna Santos each adding three blocks.
