The Williamsport Crosscutters announced their 2022 MLB Draft League schedule on Monday afternoon. The schedule expands the regular-season to 80 games which will run from June 2 through September 5. A league championship will take place on September 6 between the top two teams with the best overall records.
Last year's MLB Draft League season featured a 68-game schedule.
The Crosscutters are also implementing changes in the start times for all home games in 2022, the team announced. Monday through Saturday games will begin at 6:35 p.m. with gates opening at 5:30 p.m. Sunday games will move to 4:05 p.m. first-patch with gates opening at 3 p.m.
"We are excited to announce the 2022 schedule with an expanded format for the MLB Draft League. Our inaugural season saw overwhelming success, both in terms of fan support and on-field success," MLB Draft League president Kerrick Jackson said in a statement. "More than 90 players from the 2021 Draft League were drafted or signed professional contracts, providing fans in each of our communities with high-caliber baseball and access to future Major Leaguers like they have enjoyed throughout their teams' history."
The Crosscutters open the season with a home game against State College on Thursday, June 2, travel to State College on Friday, June 3, and then host the Spikes on Saturday, June 4 and Sunday, June 5.
Unlike last year, teams will play a handful of Mondays throughout the season. The Crosscutters are at Trenton June 7-9 before hosting State College June 10 and 12 and heading to the Spikes June 11.
The week of June 12, the Cutters are home every day except for Monday, June 13 (off). That stretch features home games with Trenton (June 14-16) and Mahoniney Valley (June 17-19).
Fans interested in season ticket plans or bonus book mini-plans can acquire them on Monday, Nov. 15, both online and by calling the Cutters.
The 2022 promotional schedule will be announced in the spring.
NOTE: Games played Monday through Saturday are 6:35 p.m. starts unless otherwise stated. Games on Sunday are 4:05 p.m. starts.
