St. John Neumann freshman Shanniyah Tutler played an outstanding game and scored a game-high 12 points as the Knights won their second straight game and defeated North Penn-Mansfield, 29-25, on Thursday night in girls basketball.
Sheiana Tutler played strong defense and Neumann has allowed just 36 points in its consecutive victories. Payton Chapel scored 11 points for NP-Mansfield.
Freshman Alli Anstadt scored 15 points and sophomore Brianna Bobak added 13 as Hughesville went on the road and defeated Wellsboro, 47-43. The Spartans (3-2) snapped Wellsboro’s three-game winning streak and held off a fourth-quarter comeback. Ava Snyder and Grace Pysher each scored six points. Emma Coolidge had a big night for Wellsboro, scoring a game-high 19 points, while Maddy Mascho scored 11. Emily Richardson lifted the Wellsboro JV team to a stunning 19-18 win, hitting a game-winning, halfcourt buzzer-beater.
• Lewisburg held Central Mountain to single digits in each of the first two quarters en route to a 53-31 win.
Jake Hernandez scored 12 and Forrest Zelechoski scored 10 for the Green Dragons.
Central Mountain was led by Brett Gerlach’s eight points. Cayde McCloskey scored seven.
Southern Columbia defeated Warrior Run, 66-17. Tyler Arnold scored 13 points for the Tigers and Connor Gallagher and Trey Wetzel both added 11.
Southern had 11 players record at least two points. Warrior Run was led by Nathan Axtman’s eight.
Tristan Gallick scored 17 points and added five assists but Jersey Shore lost a close one, 61-55 at Mifflinburg. Damian McAllister scored 15 points and Owen Bloom added 13 to go along with eight rebounds. Jarrett Foster scored 16 points and hit four 3-pointers for Mifflinburg.
• In high school wrestling, Montgomery edged Warrior Run in a close dual meet, 35-33. Conner Harer won at 152 for Montgomery with a pin in 2 minutes, 54 seconds at 152 pounds over Warrior Run’s Isaiah Betz. Montgomery also won from 160-215 with Devon Deem (160), Tanner Springman (172), Colby Springman (189) and Bradley Leon (215) all earning victories, two of which by fall.
South Williamsport easily beat Sugar Valley, 54-12. South’s Kaden Shay pinned Kylee Hill in 13 seconds at 106 pounds and Kayvan Shams pinned Jarren McCloskey in 2:37 at 120.
Bobby Gardner (132) and Sam Persun (138) also earned pinfall victories. Persun won in just 22 seconds.
Jersey Shore fell to Selinsgrove, 54-21. Dyllian Ross opened the dual meet for the Bulldogs with a pin in 1:10 against Logan Othoudt at 189. But the Seals would earn forfeit victories from 215 to 126 to take a 36-6 lead heading to the 132-pound bout.
Brock Weiss won with a pin in 1:53 for the Bulldogs at 132 and Shore’s Liam Goodich pinned the Seals’ Trent Turner at 145 in 1:13.
