Williamsport swept a tri-meet in boys and girls swimming against Holy Redeemer and DuBois. On the boys side, Williamsport beat DuBois, 77-47, and Holy Redeemer, 77-52. The Millionaire girls beat Holy Redeemer, 96-28, and DuBois, 96-52.
Mallory Pardoe won the 50 free in 25.45 and 200 free in 2:01.19 and Kendall Cohick won the 100 back. Sydney Kelley earned wins in the 200 IM (2;24.64) and 100 free (56.50).
On the boys side, Keller Griswold won the 200 IM in 2:12.71 and picked up a win in the 100 bac in 58.30. Griswold also was part of the Millionaires’ 200 medley relay team which won in 1:51.65 alongside Nicolas Damiano, Nate Wiley and Cal Hockman. He helped the 200 free relay team win as well with Hockman, Dayvon Boyd and Jaden Rankninen.
• At the Dandy Duals in Towanda, Montgomery went 5-0 by defeating Coudersport (71-6), Towanda (43-30), Williamson (59-13), Wyoming Area (52-24) and Danville (51-18). The wins improve the Red Raiders to 7-0.
Montgomery’s Conner Harer was named the tournament’s Outstanding Wrestler.
• Muncy defeated Towanda, 70-57, in the Muncy Tournament consolation game to improve to 1-1.
Ross Eyer led Muncy with a 22-point performance. Branson Eyer scored 14 points, Giovanni Persun added 11 and Michael Fry scored 10.
Muncy held a six-point lead after the first quarter and led at halftime, 33-30.
Wellsboro defeated North Penn-Liberty, 59-39. The Green Hornets hit seven 3-pointers, five of which came from Peyton McClure who ended with 15 points. Connor Adams scored a team-high 19 for Wellsboro and Hayes Campbell had 12.
N.P.-Liberty was led by Derek Litzelman’s 14 points and Devin Bradley’s 12. Bradley also had a team-high four steals and had six rebounds.
Karson Dominick had an outstanding game, scoring an impressive 33 points in North Penn-Mansfield’s 61-47 victory over Cowanesque Valley.
Sam Lawrence added 11 for the Tigers. Cowanesque Valley was led by McQuire Painter’s 30 points and Gage Tilton’s 11.
Isaiah Niemczyk scored 18 points and Caiden Williams chipped in 10, but it wasn’t enough as Canton fell to Athens, 66-44, in a NTL contest.
Canton scored 31 points in the first half, but managed just 13 over the final two quarters. Athens was led by Mason Lister and Nalen Carting, who both scored 15 points.
Damian McAllister scored 16 points and drained three fourth-quarter 3-pointers as Jersey Shore battled hard but could not overcome an early deficit in a 52-45 loss against Shamokin. Tristan Gallick produced 12 points, five rebounds and three steals while Damian Williams added eight points and eight rebounds. Owen Bloom added seven rebounds.
Carter Cowburn reached double figures for a fourth straight game and scored 10 points but Bloomsburg dominated the fourth quarter and defeated Hughesville, 56-30. The Panthers outscored Hughesville, 21-2 in the fourth quarter to hand the Spartans their first loss. Brady Snyder scored 18 points for Hughesville in a 52-50 JV win.
• In girls basketball, Jersey Shore defeated Midd-West, 51-24, as Peyton Dincher scored 14 points. The Bulldogs held Midd-West scoreless in the third quarter as Jersey Shore scored 16 points to pull away.
Lewisburg fell to Mifflinburg, 38-29. Maddie Still had a team-high eight points, six rebounds, two assists and two steals for the Green Dragons (0-3).
South Williamsport played sensational defense, allowing just nine points over the game’s final 27 minutes, 25 seconds as it defeated Montgomery, 48-16. The Mounties (2-0) held Montgomery without a field goal for 15 straight minutes at one point and had four players score at least nine points. Claudia Green scored a game-high 14 points, Aleigha Rieppel and Piper Minier each had 11 and Lacey Kriebel added nine. Rieppel also produced nine rebounds and six steals. Minier had six rebounds and four steals, Sofia Casella made four steals and Kriebel dealt three assists. Taylor McRae pulled down seven rebounds for Montgomery (2-3) and Shelby McRae scored six points.
Hughesville played without two starters most of the game against undefeated Southern Columbia but battled hard in a 51-20 loss. Ava Snyder and Lucy Myers each scored six points. Hughesville’s JV team won, 52-26 and Sophie Burns scored 20 points.
• Sophomore Allison Butler posted a career-high 17 points to lead the Lycoming College women's basketball team, as it won its second consecutive game in dramatic fashion, downing King's College, 50-45, in MAC Freedom action.
With the score 46-45 in the final minute, first-year Mya Wetzel drove in for a layup. A game-tying 3-pointer from King's fell off the mark and Zoscin iced the game with a pair of free throws with 18 seconds left.
Butler also collected and seven rebounds and two steals, going 7-for-16 in field goal attempts with a total three points in free-throws.
Junior Emily Zoscin posted nine points, three assists, two steals and a team-leading 11 rebounds for the Warriors. Sophomore Emily Lockard scored a career-high eight points to go with a career-best 10 rebounds and first-year Ashley Yoh posted seven points and an assist.
Lock Haven’s scheduled game at Clarion was postponed due to COVID-19 concerns. A rescheduled date was not yet announced.
Bucknell defeated George Mason, 77-67, at Sojka Pavilion. Taylor O’Brien scored 16 points and Remi Sisselman added 13. Marly Walls scored 12 points, Carly Krsul scored 11 and Ceceila Collins added 10.
George Mason was led by Amaya Scott’s 24-point performance as she had a near double-double by having a team-high seven rebounds.
Mansfield fell on the road to Gannon in a PSAC East-West crossover, 86-45. The loss drops the Mountaineers to 2-6 overall and 1-3 in the PSAC. Gannon is now 7-1.
Junior Jasmine Hilton was the lone Mountaineer in double figures, finishing with a team-high 10 points and seven rebounds. Senior Kira Merritt and sophomore Logan Nutt each added eight points, while senior Paige Whitfield hauled in five rebounds.
• In men’s basketball, Mansfield lost to Gannon in a PSAC East-West crossover road contest, 93-72. Gannon exploded out of the game on a 7-0 run over the opening three minutes before freshman Scott Woodring put the Mounties on the board.
Woodring led the Mountaineers with a team-high 15 points, while sophomore Jaz Farrell scored in double figures for the sixth time this season, finishing with 10 points. Freshman Justice Smith led the team in rebounding. Finishing with seven.
Loyalsock graduate Idris Ali scored eight points for Mansfield and added two rebounds.
Bucknell snapped a three-game losing streak and snapped La Salle’s brief three-game winning sreak with an 82-70 win at Sojka Pavilion. Andrew Funk had a game-high 22 for Bucknell.
The center combo of Alex Timmerman and Andre Screen combined for 25 points and 15 rebounds to lead the Bison.
Lock Haven lost to Clarion, 79-67,in a road contest. MarkAnthony Fidelis led the Bald Eagles wtih his fourth 20-point game of the season (21) and he grabbed five rebounds.
Dymir Montague and Eli Washington both added 16 points.
Jesse McPherson was strong on the glass as he had a game-high 11 rebounds.
• The Lock Haven University men's wrestling team travelled to Bucknell on Saturday afternoon and opened its Mid-American Conference schedule against Buffalo before tangling with the host Bison.
Lock Haven fell by a 21-10 tally to Buffalo in its first MAC dual since Rider on February 22, 2020. In the second match of the day, the Bald Eagles fell to the host Bucknell Bison by a 21-15 tally.
Anthony Noto kept things rolling at 125 pounds with a clinical win to open the dual with the Bulls. Noto used first period takedown to take a 2-1 advantage into the second stanza. The Empire State native used an escape in the second period to extend his lead to 3-1 heading into the final frame.
Noto, the 27th-ranked wrestler at 125 pounds, added an additional takedown in the third period and used a riding time advantage to roll to a 6-2 victory, giving Lock Haven a 3-0 advantage after the opening bout of the match.
