St. John Neumann grad Alize Johnson’s NBA career is continuing, this time with a different team.

After being released by the Chicago Bulls on Sunday, the former Golden Knight signed a 10-day contract with the Washington Wizards on Tuesday. The Wizards signing was first reported by ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski on Twitter.

Wojnarowski tweeted that Johnson cleared waivers at 5 p.m. on Tuesday.

Johnson played in just 16 games with Chicago and averaged 7.6 minutes played with 1.8 points per game and 2.3 rebounds. The former St. John Neumann standout signed with Chicago on Sept. 8.

Johnson was a second-round NBA Draft pick in 2018 by the Indiana Pacers with the 50th overall selection out of Missouri State. He played two years with Indiana before signing with the Brooklyn Nets in 2020. Since then, he’s been with the Toronto Raptors, Chicago and now the Washington Wizards. The Wizards have a stretch of five games over Johnson’s 10-day contract period.

In Johnson’s first game with Washington on Tuesday night against the Miami Heat, Johnson played nine minutes, grabbed eight rebounds — second most behind only Daniel Gafford’s 11 — and scored four points. The Wizards lost, 119-112, to drop to 17-17.
