RENOVO -- Between the Bucks' varsity schedule and the district going remote for five days, the girls basically managed to get in just two practices over nearly two full weeks. Unfortunately, the rust showed for Carl Gentzyel's team Friday night while hosting Millville.
The Quakers opened the game on a 10-0 run in the first four minutes and ended in on a 17-1 run as they rolled Bucktail 55-19. Bucktail never found their footing in the loss and Gentzyel said after the game that it was a bad match-up and the wrong time for his team.
"That was our first game in almost two weeks. We were off completely for well over a week; it showed, especially in the second half tonight," the coach said. "We missed a lot of lay-ups, a lot of shots. This just wasn't our night," he added.
"Credit to them -- Jessica Dodge and Larissa Evans are tough. Once they got rolling we just didn't have an answer and they really wore us down defensively," Gentzyel said.
The Lady Bucks (5-7) will celebrate Senior Night 2022 this Tuesday when they host CMVT. The win moved Millville to 10-6.
