Montgomery is surging and won its fourth straight game Wednesday in Laporte while ending an 11-year drought. Logan Almeida scored 21 points, Austin Kuhn collected a double-double and the Red Raiders defeated Sullivan County, 53-43, beating the Griffins for the first time since 2010. Almeida drained three 3-pointers, Kuhn scored 15 points and grabbed 11 rebounds and Montgomery (7-5) led from the first quarter on. Coltin Hans and Jacob Utter combined for 11 rebounds as well. Riley King scored 16 points for Sullivan County and Trey Higley 13.
Saraj Ali collected his seventh double-double and four players scored in double figures as defending Class AAA state champion Loyalsock won its sixth straight, defeating Milton, 81-45. Ali finished with a game-high 24 points, 12 rebounds and five assists. Jaiden Ross scored 15 points, Brendan Clark 13 and Nate Bauman 11, helping the Lancers (10-3) stay undefeated in HAC-II play. Xzavier Minium scored 20 points for Milton (9-5).
Davion Hill scored 24 points, Hanief Clay 20 and JerVal Weeks-Shuler pulled down 10 rebounds as St. John Neumann defeated CMVT, 72-37. Hill also had eight rebounds and Neumann built a 37-7 halftime lead. Joe Savage scored a career-high 12 points as Neumann (9-2) won its fifth straight game.
Ross Eyer and Loudon Boring both had double-doubles as Muncy scored 55 first-half points and routed Benton, 89-39. Eyer produced his 10th straight double-double, going for 27 points, 14 rebounds and four steals. Boring set up the offense well and dealt a career-high 10 assists while scoring 12 points. Branson Eyer added 21 points, Michael Fry scored 12 with four 3-pointers and Gio Persun added five assists. Muncy (8-3) topped 20 points in each of the first three quarters and won for the seventh time in eight games.
Noah Shaffer continued his strong play and scored a career-high 12 points but Montoursville struggled in the second half and lost 57-47 at Shikellamy. The Warriors built a 33-26 halftime lead and Quinn Ranck also scored 12 points for the Warriors. John Schneider added eight.
Damian McAllister scored 15 points and made four steals but Jersey Shore could not hold a fourth-quarter lead in a 57-50 loss at Shamokin. Damian Williams produced 13 points and five rebounds and Tristan Gallick added 11 points. Owen Bloom pulled down six rebounds and Jersey Shore started strong, leading 20-13 after a quarter.
South Willamsport had four players score in double figures as the Mounties defeated Millville, 74-50.
Lee Habalar scored a team-high 21 points and Sequan Roberts added 18. The Mounties also received 15 from Ben Manning and 14 from Grant Bachman.
Habalar had a double-double with 13 rebounds and Roberts added 11 boards for a double-double as well. Habalar also led the team with five assists.
Canton edged North Penn-Liberty in a close contest in a Northern Tier battle, 51-49.
Cooper Kitchen scored 14 points and Caiden Williams added 12. The Warriors also received 11 form Isaiah Niemczyk and 10 from Weston Bellows.
North Penn-Liberty was led by Derek Litzelman’s 26 points.
Bloomsburg held Warrior Run to single digits in the last three quarters en route to a 62-24 win against the Defenders.
Mason Sheeley scored nine points for Warrior Run. The Panthers used a 26-point third quarter to pull away.
Bucktail scored at least 12 in each of the last three quarters, but a 13-point deficit was too much to overcome in a 69-48 loss on the road to Northwest. Braylon Fantaski scored a team-high 16 points for Bucktail and Brady Pentz scored 15. The Bucks also received an 11-point effort from Dylan Cross as only four Bucktail players scored.
Lewisburg beat Selinsgrove as Jake Hernandez scored 22 points and Cam Michaels added 17. The Green Dragons played well defensively early, holding the Seals to just five points in the first quarter and 17 in the first half.
• Lewisburg defeated Central Mountain, 30-21, thanks to the Green Dragons limiting the Wildcats to just two points in the fourth quarter.
Sophie Kilbride scored eight for the Green Dragons and Maddie Materne added six. Kilbride did a bit of everything for Lewisburg, having six steals, three assists and four rebounds. Keeley Baker had seven boards.
• Freshman Ashley Yoh scored a career-high 12 points to lead the Lycoming College women's basketball team as Misericordia University posted a 72-51 MAC Freedom win.
Yoh added five rebounds to go with her 12 points in her first action in four games. Sophomore Allison Butler tied for a team-high with 12 points as well, her ninth double-digit game, also adding a team-high nine rebounds and four steals.
First-year Meghan Dufner scored nine to go with six rebounds and junior Emily Zoscin and freshman Mya Wetzel each scored four points, as Wetzel added two assists and three rebounds.
Mansfield suffered a setback at the hands of University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown, falling 59-47 in PSAC East-West crossover action.
The Mountaineers fall to 5-8 overall and 4-5 in conference, while the Mountain Cats improve to 6-9 and 4-5 in the PSAC.
The Mountaineers outscored the Mountain Cats by a total of five points in the first, third and fourth period, but it wasn't enough to overcome a dominant 20-4 UPJ second quarter.
Sydney Reed led Mansfield wtih nine points and Jasmine Hilton had a team-high eight rebounds.
Forward Ahnera Parker posted a 21-point, 15-rebound double-double to lead the way for Lock Haven as the Bald Eagles went on the road and posted a 65-51 victory at East Stroudsburg.
Lock Haven got the scoring started quickly off of a Brooke Lawyer trey as the Bald Eagles took an early 3-0 lead that they would never give up. Over the opening 10 minutes, LHU led by as many as seven points on multiple occasions before a Parker layup in the waning seconds of the quarter gave the Bald Eagles a 22-16 lead after a quarter of play.
Lawyer scored 14 points and Jackie Fetsko scored 10. Williamsport graduate Jaynelle Robinson had a near double-double with nine points and 10 rebounds.
Penn College scored an impressive 38 points in the first quarter en route to a 77-33 rout over Wells. Penn College limited Wells to single digits in three of the four quarters.
Kayleigh Miller came off the bench to lead Penn College with 14 points as the Wildcats had 11 players score. Rachel Teats and Jersey Shore graduate Aubrey Stetts each scored 12.
Loyalsock graduate Cassi Kuhns had 10 rebounds and Ja’Quela Dyer came up just shy of a double-double with eight points and 11 boards.
• Colgate defeated Bucknell, 75-56, thanks to a five players scoring at least 10 points. The Bison had just two in double figures in Xander Rice (20 points) and Ian Motta (10).
Colgate received a 17-point performance by Ryan Moffatt, 16 from Nelly Cummings, 14 from Tucker Richardson 14, 13 from Oliver Lynch-Daniels and 10 from Keegan Records.
Mansfield fell to Pitt-Johnstown at home in a PSAC contest, 92-73. Jaz Farrell scored an impressive 22 points to lead the Mounties.
Loyalsock graduate Idris Ali and Justice Smith both scored 12 points. Ali also had four assists, tied for most on the team.
Lock Haven fell to East Stroudsburg, 81-65, in a PSAC game.
East Stroudsburg started the game by scoring the first six points. The Warriors surged to an 18-point lead, 40-22, with 3:36 to play in the opening half before Lock Haven ended the half on a 9-2 run to pull to within a 44-32 score at the intermission.
DaQuan Granberry scored 20 points, going 7 of 16 shooting. Dymir Montague added 17 and Eli Washington scored 11.
Down by 10 with 11:29 left, Lycoming scored 42 points in the final 11 minutes after scoring 46 in the opening 29 to blow past Misericordia, 88-81.
Lycoming (11-6 overall, 6-2 MAC Freedom) shot 73% from the field (11 of 15) from the field during the final minutes and added an 18 of 20 performance at the free throw line to bust past the Cougars (5-10 overall, 4-4 MAC Freedom), who also hit 11 field goals during that time, but hit just one free throw.
Mo Terry led the Warriors with 20 points, six rebounds, four assists and three steals, his third 20-point scoring effort in five games, and DeAundre Manuel added 18 points and seven rebounds. Junior Dyson Harward added 18 points, nine rebounds and two blocks. Senior Matt Ilodigwe added 11 points and sophomore Mavin James added 10 points and nine rebounds.
A 27-point performance from Ransel Rodriguez helped Wells defeat Penn College, 92-75.
Penn College was led by Corey Blackwell’s 22 points. Chris Coyne had a 115-point, 13-rebound double-double and Gavin Barrett had an 11-point, 11-assist double-double.
