The PIAA announced Tuesday its new sport classification reports for the next two-year cycle, and it affects a handful of local schools.

The biggest change is Jersey Shore football moving from Class AAAA to 5A. However, coach Tom Gravish told the Sun-Gazette that the Bulldogs plan to appeal the decision since they did not have any transfers.

In addition, Loyalsock will be moving from Class AAA to AA and Milton will move up to Class AAAA. Southern Columbia, the reigning five-time state champions, will be moving from Class AA to AAA as well. They likely will appeal as well.

In girls soccer, Jersey Shore is moving from Class AAA to AA. The boys soccer team will be staying in Class AAA.

In high school wrestling, Jersey Shore will be moving from Class AA to AAA. Also bumping up in District 4 is CMVT from AA to AAA.
