An accomplished group of three swimmers will join the Lycoming College swim teams in 2022-23, third-year coach Andrew Dragunas announced on Wednesday. The group includes two women's swimmers and one men's swimmer.
The Warrior men finished ninth out of 14 teams at the 2022 MAC Championships and the women finished 11th. Senior Katherine Brown (Glenside, Pa./Abington) paced the team, earning the college's first bid to the NCAA Championships since 2003 and winning two MAC individual titles.
The incoming class includes Herndon, Virginia’s Augustus Wood, York Suburban’s Megan Lonergan and Montoursville’s Evan Hamm.
Hamm was a two-year letterwinner at Montoursville and one-year letterwinner at Williamsport. He was a two-time District 4 qualifier and a four-time District 4 finalist. He took fourth in the 500 free (5:22.12) and fifth in the 200 IM (2:09.33) his sophomore seasons.
As a freshman, he finished fourth in the 500 free (5:30.23) and fifth in the 200 IM (2:14.63) as a freshman.
Hamm swam club with Eastern Lycoming YMCA and was a three-time qualifier for the state YMCA championships. He had a top time of 24.60 in the 50 free, 1:00.26 in the 100 back, 1:01.18 in the 100 fly, 2:16.62 in the 200 fly, 2:09.33 in the 200 IM and 4:44.68 in the 400 individual medley.
Wood was a four-year letterwinner at Herndon, a two-time regional qualifier and a four-time district qualifier. She took ninth in the 500 free (5:27.39) at regional championships and seventh at district championships (5:35.42) as a senior. She also finished 16th in the 200 free (2:06.72) at districts.
Lonergan was a four-year letterwinner at York Suburban, a two-time district qualifier and a three-time league championships qualifier. She was an eighth-place finisher in districts in the 500 free (5:38.84) and 200 free (2:04.70) as a sophomore.
