South Williamsport tennis standout Olivia Dorner has accomplished a lot in her career. She won four consecutive District 4 singles titles, placed at states four consecutive years and became the only tennis player in District 4 history to win consecutive gold medals, doing so as a junior and senior. She went 73-2 in her career — the lone losses coming in states as a freshman and sophomore.

Now, she has another accolade to add to her impressive resume: a member of the USA TODAY High School Sports Awards Girls Tennis Team and is a nominee for the national Girls Tennis Player of the Year honor. The winner, along with three finalists, will be announced by USA TODAY on July 31 during an on-demand broadcast.

Dorner is one of two players from Pennsylvania on the team, joining junior Esha Velaga of North Penn. Others who are on the team include junior Shyla Aggarwal of Ohio’s Mason High School; freshman Alyssa Ahn of California’s Torrey Pines High School; senior Emma Baker of Illinois’ University of Chicago Laboratory Schools; sophomore Jessica Bernales of Nevada’s Palo Verde High School; sophomore Alana Boyce of Alabama’s Randolph School; freshman Jane Dunyon of Utah’s Weber High School; junior Kinaa Graham of Texas’ Westwood High School; senior Ann Guerry of Georgia’s Westminster Schools; sophomore Lauren Han of Oregon’s Clackamas High School;

Junior Grace Levelston of Florida’s Vero Beach high School; junior Reese Miller of Michigan’s Ann Arbor Pioneer High School’; senior Ellie Myers of Indiana’s Reitz Memorial High School; senior Tanvi Narendran of Arizona’s Rincon/University High School; senior Lizzie Novak of Michigan’s Mattawan High School; junior Valeria Ray of Florida’s Doral Academy; senior Helen Sarikulaya of Maryland’s Thomas S. Dorner went 23-1 as a freshman, losing in the state semifinals to finish third. Her sophomore year she finished 21-1 with her loss coming in the state championship match. She finished her final two seasons 29-0 with two gold medals. Dorner was perfect in District 4 play, going a combined 13-0 with four gold medals. She earned a first-round bye three times. In the state tournament, Dorner went a combined 13-2.
