Eve Jackson, Sadie Stahl and Livy Harvey all won straight sets singles matches in convincing fashion as South Williamsport blanked Muncy, 5-0. Olivia Jackson and Emma McLaughlin were also impressive in their doubles victory, as were Emily Holtzapple and Mia McNaul with both winning in straight sets.
Falin Reynolds won in straight sets without dropping a game in No. 3 singles while helping Montgomery defeat Wellsboro, 4-1. Summer Drick and Carly Hall and Kailyn Woltz and Madison Budman were victorious in doubles for the Red Raiders. Wellsboro’s Hannah Nuss fought back from a set down to win at No. 1 singles, 0-6, 6-2, 6-3.
Anna Hall and Maddy Hall won singles matches for Loyalsock, helping the Lancers edge Lewisburg, 3-2. Each won in straight sets as did the doubles team of Izzy Dadzie and Chloe Kennedy. Elsa Fellon won for Lewisburg at No. 2 singles, while the doubles team of Erin Lowthert and Vivian Vance won at No. 2 doubles.
Teresa Temple’s hard-fought, three-set win highlighted Central Mountain’s 5-0 win against Mifflinburg. Temple defeated Lydia Crawford in No. 3 singles, 3-6, 7-5, 10-4, coming back to win the last two sets. Claire Long and Zeta Blesh won the other singles matches, dropping just one game between them.
In girls’ soccer, Emilie Nagel scored three goals and added an assist as Muncy blanked Sullivan County, 7-0. Anna Seeley opened the scoring with a goal of an Addi Eyer assist. Eyer added a goal and Avery Bigelow scored twice in the second half.
Jainie Hanford scored twice and assisted on Maggie Sheets’s goal as Warrior Run scored three times in the second half and defeated Loyalsock, 3-1. Reese Temple scored a first-half goal to give Loyalsock a 1-0 lead.
Tierney Patterson continued her strong season in goal for North Penn-Mansfield. Patterson made 16 saves in a 4-0 loss against Athens.
Mason Winslow scored on a penalty kick as Montoursville won a thriller, 3-2 in overtime against Mifflinburg. Winslow assisted on the game’s first goal which Wyatt Fry scored. Fry then tied the game in the 58th minute scoring off a Gavin Hawley assist.
Viktor Permyashkin scored and added two assists as Lewisburg continued rolling and blanked Shikellamy, 5-0. Zak Kreisher opened the scoring in the 18th minute and also assisted on the Reese Dieffenderfer’s goal which made it 2-0. Dieffenderfer capped the scoring in the second half and Alfred Romano also scored.
Josh Heiney scored a second-half goal, but Southern Columbia built a three-goal first-half lead and defeated Hughesville, 5-1. Jimmy Bender scored twice for the Tigers.
In cross country, the Williamsport boys team defeated Hughesville and Bloomsburg but dropped a 26-29 heartbreaker to Danville in a quad meet. Danville and Williamsport runners took all 10 places in the top 10 with each team having five. Ethan Holcomb took second for Williamsport in a time of 17 minutes, 24 seconds with Holden Furey and Patrick Nardi, finishing fourth and fifth. Hughesville’s Cam Fetterman took 12th to help Hughesville defeat Bloomsburg.
In the girls’ race, Hughesville’s Vivian Draper (6th), Katie Miller (8th) and Grace Fortin (10th) helped Hughesville pick up two wins with their top 10 finishes. Williamsport defeated Bloomsburg in the race.
The Lewisburg boys (6-0) stayed undefeated as it swept a quad meet against Central Mountain, Mount Carmel and Midd-West. Lewisburg placed six runners in the top 10 and Thomas Hess won the race in a time of 17:30. Jonathan Hess was second, just 11 seconds behind.
Lewisburg also swept the girls meet with Central Mountain taking two of three meets as it did in the boys race. Lewisburg’s Baylee Espinosa won the race in 18:42 while Central Mountain’s Abbey Wolfe was second in 19:40. Lewisburg and Central Mountain had nine of the 10 top finishers.
Sullivan County’s Tucker Blasi took a team-high 10th for the Griffins a tri-meet against Northeast Bradford and Athens. NEB swept the meet and combined with Athens to take the top nine places. Sullivan’s Libby Moore took ninth in the girls race.
Hanna Rabb shot a match-best 35 and helped Warrior Run edge Bloomsburg, 169-174 in high school golf. Dylan Laubach tied for third with a 41 and four Defenders shot 47 or lower.
In college tennis, freshman Emma Kelchner led the Lycoming College womenás tennis team to its first win, winning both her singles and doubles matches in a 5-4 victory over Susquehanna University at Brandon Park, just Lycoming’s second win over Susquehanna since 2002. It also was the first win for interim head coach Joel Reid.
