Lycoming goalie gets MAC Freedom award

By From staff reports 2 min read

Freshman goalkeeper Isabella Bobé earned MAC Freedom Rookie of the Year honors to highlight the Lycoming College field hockey team's first season in 30 years and sophomore midfielder Halie Woodring was named honorable mention all-conference as well.

Bobé, who also picked up Second Team All-MAC Freedom accolades after starting 14 of the Warriors' 15 games this season, made a conference-leading 148 saves. On Oct. 22, Bobé made a season-high 19 saves against Arcadia and she posted the team's first shutout since 1991 in a 2-0 defeat of Lancaster Bible College on Sept. 21. The first-year keeper had six 10-save games, helping her finish 15th in Division III with an average of 9.87 saves per game.

Woodring received an honorable mention selection after finishing the season with one goal, one assist, and three points. Her goal came against Keuka in a 4-3 defeat of the Wolves on Sept. 10, as she scored the first goal in the game before scoring in penalty strokes to secure the win. A transfer from Division I Lock Haven University, Woodring served as a veteran on a team that featured eight first-years, playing a key role in the team's transition throughout the year.

It is the first time since 1986 that two Warriors earned all-conference accolades, as Nancy Mabus and Kim Nagle both earned first-team All-MAC Northwest League honors that season. Bobé and Woodring are the first all-conference selections at Lycoming since Crissy Simpson earned All-MAC Northwest League accolades in 1992. Bobé is the first major award winner in the program's history.
