LANCASTER — Down 12 points at the start of the third quarter, the Lycoming College women's basketball team, led by sophomore Meghan Dufner, put up 40 points in the second half, but fell in the final seconds to Penn State Harrisburg, 71-68, in a nailbiter on the final day of the Terry Greene Tip-off Classic on Sunday.
Dufner finished the afternoon with 16 points, two steals, a team-leading four assists, and four rebounds and first-year Victoria Burton also added 16 points, a block and six rebounds, making seven field goals. Sophomore Ashley Yoh notched eight rebounds to go with 12 points and junior Emily Lockard notched a double-double with 10 points and 11 rebounds.
The Warriors (1-2 overall) notched 44 points in the paint, shooting 46% from the field.
The Warriors trailed 48-35 with 5:54 left in the third quarter, but finished the quarter on a 13-3 run to close within three points at the end of the quarter off a layup from Burton with 41 seconds left in the period.
Lockard and Burton both brought the Warriors within a point in the fourth, but Dufner gave the Warriors their first lead of the game on a fastbreak layup after stealing a pass at halfcourt with six minutes left.
