North Penn-Liberty won its first-round volleyball matchup on Tuesday evening in the PIAA Class AA tournament by beating Lake Lehman, 3-0 (25-21, 25-23, 25-17).
Lake Lehman kept each set close, losing by just four, two and eight.
With the win, North Penn-Liberty advances to Saturday’s quarterfinals to play District 11 champion Notre Dame Green Pond at a site and time to be determined.
Aubrey Pequignot had 19 assists, five digs, three service receptions, two aces and two kills. Alexia Kshir added 10 kills, eight digs and seven service receptions. Liberty had 11 digs, 17 service receptions and six kills from Darby Stetter and 10 service receptions, six kills and five digs from Saige Lehman.
Ella Swingle added six kills and three blocks; Megan Spohn had nine assists, four digs and an ace; McKenna Lightner had 10 digs and eight service receptions; and Reese Barrett had four kills, two assists, a dig and a service reception.
In Class A, District 4 champion Galeton lost to Mount Calvary Christian, 3-0 (25-16, 25-22, 25-17). No additional statistics were made available.
