For the second consecutive year, South Williamsport’s Piper Minier earned all-state honors in girls soccer. The South Williamsport senior was named all-state this year as a forward.
South Williamsport’s last all-state girls soccer player was defender Bella Green, who earned the honor in 2018. Minier is the first area player to earn consecutive all-state honors since Central Mountain standout Sam Lofton did so as a midfielder in 2008-09 and South Williamsport great Christsa Matlack in 2005-06 as a forward.
In addition to Minier being an all-state honor, South Williamsport’s Marc Lovecchio was named Mid-Penn girls soccer Coach of the Year.
Minier and Muncy’s Mia Edkin were first-team forwards, South Williamsport’s Ella Moore, Sullivan’s Cloe Immel and Muncy’s Emilie Nagel were first-team midfielders, and South Williamsport’s Aleigha Rieppel and Brooklyn Lentz, in addition to Muncy’s Avery Bigelow, were first-team defenders.
Muncy’s Addi Gresh earned a spot as a goalie.
Named to the honorable mention team were Muncy’s Emma McCormick, South’s McKaye Wilton, Sullivan’s Lauren Minnier and Montgomery’s Rubi Solano.
On the boys side, numerous locals were named to the Mid-Penn all-star team. South Williamsport sophomore Logan Harris and Montgomery junior Owen Sherman were first-team forwards, in addition to Sullivan County senior Riley King. South Williamsport junior Kayvan Shams and Sullivan County senior Rocky Finnegan were named to the midfield.
South Williamsport senior Alex Neidig and senior Lee Habalar were first-team defenders, as was Muncy junior Logan Ohl. Muncy standout goalie Eli Slamka, a senior, was named as goalie.
Benton’s Max Kocher was the Mid-Penn boys soccer all-state selection and Benton coach Harry Schlichter took home Coach of the Year honors.
Muncy’s Rowan Revata, Montgomery’s Hunter Jackson, South Williamsport’s Ben Manning and Sullivan County’s Trey Higley were all honorable mention all-star selections.
