Three players scored in double figures and nine players scored overall as Loyalsock put together its most well-rounded performance this season, defeating rival Montoursville, 57-35. Sophomore Julie Ellis scored a career-high 13 points and grabbed 11 rebounds, while Natayah Abdul-Hakim produced 11 points and seven rebounds. She also was 7 for 7 at the foul line. Alaina Dadzie also had 11 points and seven rebounds, while her sister Izzy went or eight points and five assists, helping Loyalsock (3-1) build a 28-11 halftime lead. Maddie Labatch and Sydnie Stone each scored 12 points for Montoursville (2-3).
Lacey Kriebel scored 13 points and Aleigha Rieppel 12, but Bloomsburg continued its strong start and defeated South Williamsport, 53-36. Bryn Zentner scored 25 points for the Panthers (4-0), while Madeline Evans added 18. The game was tied 12-12 in the first quarter before Bloomsburg heated up and built a 33-22 halftime advantage.
Jersey Shore gave perennial power Mount Carmel a battle and trailed by just two on the road in the third quarter before the Tornadoes pulled away and won a hard-fought game, 48-35. Peyton Dincher scored 18 points for the Bulldogs who were outshot at the foul line, 31-6. All-state forward Alyssa Reisinger scored 25 points for Mount Carmel (5-0) and Jenna Pizzoli added 10.
Despite not having three starters, South Williamsport produced throughout its rotation and had four players in double figures while defeating Montgomery, 76-47. Lee Habalar led the way with 20 points and eight rebounds, while Caden Harris (12 points) and Zach Lynn (11) each reached career-highs in points. Aaron Akers added 13 points and Alex Neidig dealt six assists. South (2-3) dazzled in the fourth quarter, closing the game on a 29-9 run to pull away. Noah Gearhart scored 13 points and added six rebounds for Montgomery (3-2). Rayne Parrish scored 11 points and Saafir Stewart Williams grabbed nine rebounds. Parker Bennett scored nine points with five rebounds.
Sullivan County defeated CMVT in a Mid-Penn contest, 44-32, to improve to 3-1 and 1-0 in the league. Riley King had a big game for the Griffins with 15 points and was the only Sullivan player in double figures. Trey Higley added eight points and both Maddox Bahr and Ben Carpenter scored six. Higley added seven rebounds and three steals.
North Penn-Mansfield easily cruised past Williamson, winning by 50 points in an 84-34 rout. NP-Mansfield had three players in double figures, led by Karson Dominick’s 27 points. Of his 27, 21 came in the first half. Brody Burleigh scored 14 points and Alex Davis chipped in 11. NP-Mansfield held a 27-10 lead after the first quarter and took a 55-19 lead into the half.
The Mansfield University women’s basketball team dropped a non-conference contest on the road at Gannon University, 87-41.
Jasmine Hilton notched her fourth double-double of the season and her second in as many games, finishing with a team-high 14 points and 10 rebounds. Alivia Paeglow added seven points and five rebounds, all coming on the offensive end.
A slow start doomed the Mounties, as Gannon jumped out to an early, 18-6, advantage after the first period.
Mansfield had their best shooting effort in the second quarter (44%; 8 of 18) to outscore the Golden Knights, 17-16. However, Gannon continued to shoot with efficiency while stifling MU on defense to take the third quarter, 25-11, before holding the Mounties to seven points, on just 20% (3 of 15) shooting, in the final period to seal the victory.
