MANHEIM -- Lily Sherer of the No. 10 Lock Haven women's wrestling team has been named the National Wrestling Coaches Association Women's Wrestler of the Month in Region 1 after her stellar November.
For Lock Haven, it marks the first time in program history the Bald Eagles have earned a NWCA Wrestler of the Month, in just their second full season of competition.
The nation's No. 4 ranked wrestler at 130 pounds, Sherer soared to a 5-1 record in November with two wins over ranked opponents, three pins, and one tech fall.
She started the season off with an impressive performance at the Princeton Open, capped with a 3-1 record and a second-place finish. Sherer and the Bald Eagles then moved on to dual action where she started off with an upset victory over the No. 3 ranked Mia Macaluso of East Stroudsburg. After starting down 6-0 in the match, Sherer came from behind to secure a pin and help No. 19 Lock Haven defeat No. 14 East Stroudsburg.
The sophomore doubled up on dual wins she defeated the No. 7 ranked Naomi Henry.
