Junior Brendon Blackson notched his first career double-double and senior Dyson Harward posted his 28th to lead the Lycoming College men's basketball team, which posted an 85-77 non-conference win over Marywood University on Sunday.
Harward posted 22 points and 11 rebounds for his fourth double-double of the season, as he also posted two steals and crossed 900 points in his career. Blackson notched 16 points and 10 defensive rebounds, as he was a perfect 7 for 7 from the free throw line and also contributed two assists.
Junior Steven Hamilton notched 13 points and four assists, the third Warrior to finish in double figures. Senior DeAundre Manuel finished with eight points, 11 rebounds, four blocks, three steals and two assists, sophomore Ivan Komitski notched a career-high nine points thanks to a 3-of-5 effort from long range and senior Mo Terry, limited to 18 minutes due to foul trouble, posted eight points, all on free throws, and three assists.
The Warriors (5-4 overall) held a 15-rebound advantage on the glass (44-29), which helped the team end up with 16 more free throws, and they converted 27-of-32, 84 percent, while Marywood hit just 13-of-16.
Marywood led 5-3 a minute and a half into the game before Manuel hit a layup and Harward hit a 3-pointer to start a 10-point run and the Warriors never trailed after that. Komitski hit all of his 3-pointers in the first half, the last of which gave Lycoming a 35-17 lead with 6:58 left. The Pacers closed within seven late in the period, but Blackson converted an old-fashioned three-point play to give the Warriors a 40-30 lead at the break.
Lycoming got the lead to as many as 18 points again with 14:39 left in the second half, but Marywood chipped back within 10 seven times in the second half before permanently doing it with a 3-pointer from Cole Johnson with 1:11 left. The closed within five with a pair of free throws, but the Warriors went 6 of 6 at the line in the last minute to seal an eight-point win.
The Pacers were led by four in double figures, with Jason Holman leading the way with 20 points. Cole Johnson had 16 points and seven rebounds, Trevor Seitz also had 16 and Caleb Vigil added 11 points and four assists.
The Warriors get back into action on Saturday when they head to Delaware Valley University for a 3 p.m. MAC Freedom game.
