GREENSBORO, N.C. - Freshman right fielder Matt Worth, a Loyalsock graduate, drilled a first-pitch fastball over the left field fence in the top of the fourth inning to score the Lycoming College baseball team's first two runs in its rebirth, but Greensboro College posted an 11-2 win in both teams' season opener on Saturday afternoon at Ted Leonard Park.
Worth came up after sophomore Jake Schilling reached on a blooper into right that found the turf to lead off the frame. After a pop out, Worth delivered the school's first runs in a baseball game since May 5, 1971, when the 1971 team lost to Elizabethtown, 4-3, in the season finale.
The blast tied the game at 2, but Greensboro (1-0 overall) responded with two runs in the bottom of the inning, three in the seventh and four in the eighth.
