Playoff Roundup: Lewisburg boys surge into semifinals
Defending District 4 Class AAAA champion Lewisburg opened its title defense in strong fashion, defeating rival Mifflinburg, 66-54 in Friday’s quarterfinals. The Dragons dominated the final three quarters after Mifflinburg took a lead into the second. Cam Michaels scored a game-high 24 points as Lewisburg (15-8) earned a spot in next week’s semifinals against top-seeded Shamokin. Lewisburg made 10 3-pointers with Devin Bodden connecting on four and finishing with 12 points. Henry Harrison scored nine and Jack Blough eight.
Shamokin cruised into the semifinals, defeating Montoursville, 73-40. The Indians (18-7) built a 40-18 halftime lead, and the Warriors were unable to mount a comeback. Montoursville (7-16) returns a good nucleus next season, including Quinn Ranck and Bryce Eberhart who scored 14 and 11 points, respectively. Joe Hile led Shamokin with 19 points and Case Lichty scored 18.
