Lewisburg girls win first ever state tournament game

The Lewisburg girls made history Tuesday night, going on the road and defeating Northwestern Lehigh, 29-26 to win the program’s first state tournament game ever. The Green Dragons (18-8) led throughout the second half in this Class AAAA state play-in game and will head to District 2 champion Scranton Prep Saturday afternoon. Lewisburg handed Northwestern Lehigh (26-3) just its third loss in 29 games and bottled up a potent offense. Northwestern Lehigh had won its games by a 25-point average, but Lewisburg held it to a season-low in points. Sydney Bolinsky scored nine points for Lewisburg and Maddie Still and Keeley Baker each had seven. Sophie Kilbride had five rebounds, three steals and three assists. Lewisburg took a 16-14 halftime lead and built on the momentum it established after turning a nine-point fourth-quarter deficit into a 47-39 District 4 third place win last Saturday.
