Williamsport’s Griswold, Kelley, Cohick all win gold at District 2 Class AAA swimming championships on Day 1

Williamsport’s foursome of Cal Hockman, Parker Johnson, Keller Griswold and Jaden Rankinen shaved two seconds off their time en route to finishing the 200 medley relay with a winning time of 1:40.61 on the first day of the District 2 swimming championships.
The Millionaires’ relay team won by four seconds.
Through the first day of competition, the Williamsport girls are in first place with 177 points, ahead of Delaware Valley (131) and Tunkhannock (117). On the boys side, Williamsport’s 169 points is behind only Delaware Valley’s 174.
Hockman was a silver medalist in the 200 IM as he swam a 2:06.20, behind only Hazleton’s Logan Yakubowski. Hockman’s time was also four seconds better than his seeded time entering districts.
LJ Shaffer, a junior, finished third in the 200 free by swimming a 1:58.65, shaving five seconds off his time.
Williamsport had a pair of placewinners in the 50 free as Ranknien took silver with a time of 23.05, half a second from Abington Heights’ Derek Williams’ winning time of 22.55, and Brady Ross took fourth in 24.16.
Griswold won individual gold as he finished the 100 fly in 53.30 and teammate Nate Wiley was a third-place finisher in 54.94.
In girls competition, Williamsport went 1-2-3 in the 200 free as Sydney Kelley swam a 1:56.38 to win, shaving nearly a second off her time in the process. Ashlynn Martz took second in 2:14.91 and Charley Greevy was third in 2:15.30.
Another Williamsport gold medalist was Kendall Cohick, who won the 100 fly in 1:00.41, winning the event narrowly over Tunkhannock’s Samantha Roerig.
The Millionaires’ Aubrey Glosser took second in the 200 IM with a time of 2:25.12, six seconds better than her seeded time.
Williamsport’s Molly Garrison reached the podium with a fourth-place finish in the 50 free as she swam a 26.05, half a second from first-place finisher Cassandra Cabonilas of Nanticoke.
Williamsport’s 200 free relay team of Kelley, Garrison, Aubrey Glosser and Cohick finished first with a time of 1:43.17, winning the relay by four seconds.
