AUSTIN - Garrett Nepert (Preston, Md./Colonel Richardson (Chesapeake County CC)) of the Lock Haven baseball team has earned 2023 Academic All-American honors. The senior catcher was named to the 2023 Division II Academic All-America Second Team, which was selected by College Sports Communicators (CSC).
Nepert no doubt stood out on the field for The Haven, but he also excelled in the classroom. The health and physical education major recorded an impressive 3.86 grade-point-average.
His leadership behind home plate at catcher defensively, and with the bat in hand on offense, he led the Bald Eagles to a 20-win season, Lock Haven's first 20-win season since 2018.
Nephert started 40 games and hit .306 with four home runs, six doubles and 35 RBIs. He scored 16 runs, recorded a .454 slugging-percentage and tallied a .433 on-base percentage. He was equally impressive on the defensive side for Lock Haven.
He's the only Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) player named to the Second Team and one of only two PSAC student-athletes honored with Division II Academic All-American honors.
