West End 14s win second game at Babe Ruth state tournament

The West End 14s cruised to a win against Lackawanna in the second pool play game in the Babe Ruth Pennsylvania state tournament at West End, 15-0. The win moves West End to 2-0 and gives them the No. 1 seed in the field.

West End will play either Altoona or Lackawanna on Tuesday at 7 p.m. The state final is set for Wednesday night at 5:30 p.m.

West End’s offense exploded for five runs in the top of the first inning and then an additional seven in the third. West End scored a run in each inning and limited Lackawanna’s offense to just two singles.

Both Chayse Snyder and Nate Crowe had two hits apiece as Snyder went 2 for 3 with two RBIs, three walks and three runs scored and Crowe was 2 for 3 with three RBIs, a walk and two runs scored. Crowe also had a triple. Jaymes Carpenter had an extra-base hit with a double while Jaxson March, Lincoln Miller, and Noah Kirby all recorded singles.

Trey Damschroder was walked four times and Zach Neill was walked twice.

On the mound, LJ Hill, Neill and Zion Hughes combined in the two-hitter, striking out four, walking just two batters and not allowing a run. Hill picked up the win.
