Hughesville defeated Mifflinburg, 5-0, and Lewisburg, 5-0, to open the season with two strong victories. Sarah Buck beat Mifflinburg's Reyna Kirick, 6-0, 6-0, and Lewisburg's Erin Lowthart, 6-0, 6-0.
At No. 2 singles, it was Annaka Bruder with a 6-0, 6-0 win over Morgan Traver of Mifflinburg and a 6-1, 6-1 victory against Annabelle Joung, 6-1, 6-1, of Lewisburg.
Hughesville's doubles team of Georgia Randall and Breanna Bobak beat Lewisburg's Christina Zheng and Diana Zheng, 6-1, 6-1, and the duo also beat Mifflinburg's Kaylee Swastzlander and Kaelynn Wagner, 6-0, 6-0.
Montoursville defeated Loyalsock, 3-2. Anna Hall picked up a 6-0, 6-2 win at No. 1 singles over Katelyn Good and Caroline Crawford won for Loyalsock at No. 3 singles against Jill Stone, 1-6, 6-3, 10-8. Montoursville's Ally Witter and Lily Fortin won at No. 1 doubles, 6-2, 6-3 and Kendall Simms and Ali Ravert won at No. 2 doubles for Montoursville via forfeit.
Central Mountain opened up its season with a matchup against Danville and fell in a close one, 3-2. Addison Lindsay dominated in what was almost a shutout in the lone singles win.
In doubles action Jocelyn Sproat and Catie Lugg won a tiebreaker match as the Wildcats took one of two victories.
"We had a little case of the nerves going into our first match. We had some bright spots but also saw some things we need to work on," Central Mountain coach Tom Zettle said. "Addison looked strong at No. 1 singles and our No. 1 doubles (Jocelyn and Catie) battled back for a win."
Muncy fell to Bloomsburg, 4-1. Muncy’s lone win came in doubles action where Hayley Green and Savannah Thompson teamed up for a 6-2, 6-1 win against Erika Traupman and Braylin Evans. Muncy is now 1-1.
Muncy’s Emily DePew and Lillian DePew fell at No. 1 doubles to Hope Lapinsky and Rose Leh, 0-6, 6-3, 6-2.
• In a quad golf meet at White Deer, Montgomery/Muncy won with a team score of 215 against Benton (230), Sullivan County (265) and Sugar Valley (265).
Sullivan was led by Makayla Bedford's 61. Grace Zelewicz shot a 65, Kurt Shupp shot a 67, Landon Bahr shot a 72 and Alex Farrell shot an 88.
Montgomery/Muncy was led by Liam Adams' impressive 42, followed by Jack Springman's 56 and Dylan Brown's 58. Brady Pease shot a 59, Matt Moser shot a 60 and Olivia Walk shot a 66. Sugar Valley was led by Stu Meixel's 58. Bryer Martin shot a 63, Remi Ripka shot a 70 and Ben Parker shot a 74. Josh Miller-Mitchell also shot a 79.
Central Mountain golf teed off with Milton in a match and came away with the victory, 160-182. The medalist of the match was Evan Walker as he shot a 36 on a par 35 front 9.
