The Lycoming College volleyball team was selected to finish eighth in the Landmark Conference Preseason Coaches’ poll, the conference announced on Tuesday.
Defending national champion Juniata was the unanimous pick to win its 16th straight Landmark Conference championship. Scranton (73), Susquehanna (60), Elizabethtown (58), Catholic (52) and Drew (39) are positioned to take the other five spots in the conference championship tournament and Moravian (33), Lycoming (21), Goucher (19) and Wilkes (14) round out the poll.
With a corps of nine juniors, Lycoming has gotten plenty of on-court experience in the past two years, growing into a team that finished two matches under .500 in 2022 at 11-13. With three returning All-MAC Freedom players in the mix, the Warriors do have a talented corps.
The team's strength will be on defense, where juniors Ali Koval (a North Penn-Mansfield graduate) and Kendall Myers have both earned Honorable Mention All-MAC Freedom honors in their career as liberos, while sophomore Cameron Upcraft was also an honorable mention all-conference selection as a middle blocker.
The Warriors open the season with the Tip-Off Classic on Friday when they host Clarks Summit at 4 p.m. and La Roche at 8 p.m.
