NPM’s Andy Hermansen, Wellsboro’s Hayden Zuchowski qualify for state tournament in golf

North Penn-Mansfield’s Andy Hermansen took second at the District 4 Class AA golf championships on Monday at Williamsport Country Club to secure a trip to the state tournament as an individual qualifier.

The Class AA competition, originally scheduled for Saturday, was moved to Monday due to weather on Saturday morning.

On the second day of competition, Hermansen shot an 83 to finish with a 161 score, good for second place. He shot a 78 on the first day. Hermansen was behind only Mifflinburg’s Kamdon Eicher (160). Midd-West’s Noah Romig took third with a 162 and Cole Duffy of Danville was fourth with a 163.

The top four finishers were all within three strokes of one another as the field was extremely competitive and close.

Wellsboro’s Hayden Zuchowski finished sixth after shooting an 83 on Monday for a 171 and also qualified for the individual state tournament. Loyalsock’s Davyn Allis tied for eighth with a 175 after shooting an 88. He tied with Shamokin’s Hayden Karlovich.

Warrior Run’s Max Wirnsberger was tied for 11th after shooting a 90 for a 180 score. North Penn-Mansfield’s Tate Strange was tied for 13th with a 183 after shooting a 90.

Montoursville’s Bryce Carey tied with Midd-West’s Garrett Leitzel for 15th with a 184, and Loyalsock’s Ronnie Emery tied with Wyalusing’s Hunter House with a 191 for 19th place. Hughesville’s Connor McKeown was tied for 24th after shooting a 92 for a 199 score.
