Five Lycoming College wrestlers - sophomore 149-pounder Kobin Karper, freshman 157-pounder Jayden Drummond, sophomore 174-pounder Eli Crum, sophomore 184-pounder Jimmy Ellis and junior 141-pounder Cooper Gilham — posted perfect records to lead the team at the season — opening Lycoming Invitational on Sunday, Nov. 5, at the Keiper Recreation Center.
Crum won four matches in his odd-numbered weight class, posting a 16-2 major decision over Otterbein's Josh Taylore, a 16-1 tech fall win over St. John Fisher's Alan Anthony before posting pins against Cortland's Gabe Willins and Utica's Logan Krouse.
Karper posted a pin of Oneonta's Brandon Cirincione before notching a 19-2 tech fall of Oneonta's Mason Rappold and a 17-0 tech fall of Utica's Matt Bonato.
Drummond had three pins in his Warrior debut, sticking Cortland's Maxim Kochergin, Utica's Alex Vividor and St. John Fisher's Colden Hardy.
Ellis added a tech fall of Oneonta's Nicholas Aliani before winning by decision against Averett's Nolan Gerwitz and Cortland's Ryan Monahan.
Gilham also looked good in his first tournament as a junior, tech-falling Cortland's Noah Order, 17-0, before pinning Oneonta's Santos Ocasio and Tamas Eder.
Senior Gable Crebs (Montoursville, Pa./Montoursville), ranked ninth in Division III, went 3-1 with three pins in his first action of the year, sticking Otterbein's Brandon Thomas, Cortland's Chris Bold and Oneonta's Noah Kennedy, all in the first period.
Freshman 165-pounder Ethan Kolb, freshman 197-pounder Ivan Neal, junior 125-pounder Kaden Majcher (a Warrior Run graduate), junior 184-pounder Matt Knapp and junior heavyweight Robbie West all won two matches.
