Jaylen Andrews scored 12 of his game-high 29 points in the fourth quarter, helping Loyalsock fight off a tough challenge from Southern Columbia and win, 76-71. Andrews also produced a double-double, grabbing 11 rebounds as Loyalsock (13-1, 5-0 HAC-III) won its 10th straight game.
Nate Bauman and Gage Patterson also had strong games, scoring 22 and 17 points, respectively. Loyalsock used an 18-10 third quarter run to go up nine after Southern (7-4, 3-2) closed within one at halftime.
Aiden McKee scored 25 points and grabbed eight rebounds as Warrior Run scored 71 points through three quarters in an 84-43 win against Bloomsburg. Cooper Wilkins (12) and Landon Polcyn (11) also reached double figures, while James Keifer and Chase Beachel combined for 17 points off the bench.
Messiah Baldwin erupted for a career-high 35 points, doing so in just three quarters, while helping St. John Neumann defeat CMVT, 70-49. The Knights (7-5, 6-1 Mid-Penn) scored 33 first quarter points and led 51-17 at halftime.
Tyrick Moy also had a strong game, scoring 19 points as Neumann won its fifth straight game.
Noah Confer nearly outscored Benton by himself by recording a 17-point effort as Muncy cruised past Benton, 59-19, for the Indians’ 10th win of the season.
Konnor Shearer scored 12 and Nathan Rogers added 10. Muncy held a 20-5 advantage after the first quarter and took a 36-11 lead into halftime.
South Williamsport picked up a 43-40 win over Millville. Millville outscored the Mounties in the second half, but South held on for the win.
Caleb Neidig scored 15 points to lead South Williamsport and Radley Knapp added 11. South also saw Chima Uwawuike and Jordan Baier score eight. Knapp ended with eight rebounds while Jordan Baier grabbed a team-high 11 boards.
Chase Knarr hit six 3-pointers and led Milton with a 20-point performance, but he was the Black Panthers’ lone double-digit scorer as Milton fell to Shamokin, 74-44. Luke Goodwin added eight for Milton.
Bucktail’s game with Northwest was cut short in the third quarter due to fans as it was officially called a 52-25 win for the Rangers. The loss drops the Bucks to 6-6 and Bucktail travels to Benton for a game on Saturday.
Bucktail was led by Brody Pentz’s 11 points and Brett Mason’s six before the game was called. Josh Miner had 23 for Northwest and Tucker Crawford scored 10.
• Altoona picked up its ninth consecutive win by defeating Williamsport girls in a tough contest, 48-42. The Millionaires had a rough first quarter, but kept battling and kept it close.
Ella Wilson and Nadirah Tutler both had outstanding games, scoring 16 points each and Payton Baney added eight for the Millionaires.
Chloe Brandenburg scored 16 points to help lift Wellsboro to a Northern Tier League victory over Canton, 35-28. She was the only Green Hornet to record double figures.
Canton was led by Kendall Kitchen, who also scored 16.
Williamson picked up a 38-15 win against Sayre thanks to Kenna Thomas and Taylor Rae Jones, who combined for 38 points. Thomas scored 17 and Jones added 11.
Williamson held Sayre to just one point through the first two quarters of the game.
Towanda defeated North Penn-Liberty, 42-37. Haley Litzelman did a little bit of everything by scoring 12 points, grabbing seven rebounds, dishing out six assists and swiping three steals. Tierney Patterson had a 10-point, 10-rebound, five-steal double-double for Liberty and Kaylee Graham scored eight points.
Nikki Kiscadde added three points and a team-high five steals while Kendall Graham had four points. Payton Perry led Towanda with 14 pints and Brynn Woodruff added 11.
North Penn-Mansfield edged out Wyalusing in a close Northern Tier contest, 36-33. McKenna Lightner had a 11-point, 10-rebound double-double with three assists and two steals. Kameron Lightner scored 12 points, grabbed seven boards, had three steals, two assists and a block.
Mansfield also saw Ella Swingle scored five points, have five rebounds and two assists. Raegan Watkins-Borrett had four points and two rebounds.
Muncy allowed just 12 second-half points and Addi Eyer and Nolah Moyer formed a strong outside-inside duo as the Indians defeated Benton, 45-29. Eyer scored a game-high 13 points and Moyer added 11. Ava Eyer scored nine off the bench as Muncy (7-5, 5-1 Mid-Penn) broke open what was a close game at halftime with a 26-12 run.
St. John Neumann stayed one game ahead of Muncy in the league, defeating CMVT, 69-19. The Knights (10-4, 7-0) won their sixth straight game and had three players score in double figures. Niyah Tutler scored a game-high 16 points, while Lizzie Weller had 14 and Bre Nixon 12. The Knights built a 42-10 halftime lead and had five players hit 3-pointers.
Loyalsock built a 27-2 first quarter lead and utilized its bench over the last three quarters as it downed Southern Columbia, 58-9 and won its eighth straight game. Alaina Dadzie (12 points) and Lacey Kriebel (11) reached double figures early and Madeline Luxenberger scored a season-high eight points off the bench as Loyalsock (12-2, 5-0) remained unbeaten in the HAC-II.
Maddie Smith continued her strong freshman season, scoring 17 points and helping Hughesville defeat South Williamsport, 45-19. Smith scored 15 points in the first half as the Spartans (13-2) built a 40-8 lead. Alli Anstadt scored all 12 of her points during that first half. Abby Akers scored 11 points for South.
• Emma Gerlinski and Kimmy Shannon each picked up multiple individual wins in girls swimming, but it wasn’t enough as Lewisburg fell in a dual meet against Danville, 108-59, in girls competition and 90-64 on the boys side.
Shannon won the 200 free with a time of 1:59.01, besting Victoria Bartholomew by nine seconds. Shannon also won the 100 back in 59.74, the only swimmer to break a minute in the event.
Gerlinski won the 50 free with a time of 26.30, winning by two seconds, and also won the 100 free in 57.28, winning by a second over Bartholomew.
Lewisburg’s 400 free relay team of Shannon, Jillian Muchler, Jilliane Donner and Gerlinski won with a time of 4:03.15, cruising in the event and winning by 18 seconds.
Mason Ordonez continued his outstanding season with two individual wins on Wednesday. Ordonez won the 100 back in a time of 58.43 and won the 200 IM in 2:03.54. Lewisburg’s Miles Fassero also picked up a win in the 100 breast for the Green Dragons in 1:01.65, winning by six seconds. Lewisburg’s 200 medley relay team of Ethan Zeh, Fassero, Ben Rogovin and Ordonez won in 1:52.82. Rogovin also won indivudually with a time of 1:04.93 in the 100 fly event.
• Sugar Valley defeated Loyalsock in wrestling, 33-24. After Loyalsock's Ethan French pinned Brandon Galentine of Sugar Valley in 42 seconds at 215, the match began to build momentum for both teams. It was a chance for Sugar Valley to prove itself and flip the match odds back in its favor or lay down for a home loss.
At 285, Koda Mincer of Sugar Valley won by forfeit and Leroy Culvey of Sugar Valley made it two straight forfeit wins when he picked up a forfeit at 107. Loyalsock then picked up a forfeit at 114 as Ivan Baker won at 114. With double forfeits at 121 and 127, respectively, the dual would come down to one final match. Jarren McCloskey of Sugar Valley took care of business against Connor Phillips of Loyalsock by pinning him in two minutes, 26 seconds to help the Phoenix win its first dual at home this season.
• Mansfield’s women’s basketball team lost a close PSAC contest to Shippensburg, 75-70, to drop to 7-8 and 4-6 in the league. Alivia Paeglow scored nine of her team-high 13 points in the fourth including shooting 4-4 from the field in the quarter.
Jasmine Hilton also scored 13 points and grabbed seven rebounds.
Danae Ellzy had 12 points, a team-high five assists, and went 3-6 from three-point range.
The Mountaineers opened the game on an 8-2 run and maintained their six-point advantage into the first-quarter media timeout. Coming out of the break Ellzy hit a three to extend the Mountie lead to 15-6. Mansfield doubled up Shippensburg in the quarter, outsourcing the Raiders 18-9.
Hilton led Mansfield with seven points in the quarter, Sheeler added five, and Emilie Leidig got on the board as well by knocking down a three.
• Mansfield’s men’s basketball team earned a 98-87 overtime thrilling win against PSAC foe Shippensburg. This was the Mounties' first victory in Heiges Field House since February 19, 2014, when they won 80-77. This also marks the first win against Shippensburg since February 11, 2015, winning 60-52, ending the 14-game losing streak.
Michael Dickson led the Mounties with 27 points on the night, setting his new career high and most by a Mountie this season.
Loyalsock graduate Idris Ali and Jordan Montgomery each posted 20 points and Montgomery also earned his new career high on the night.
Mansfield flooded the backboard early, throwing up 15 shots in the first five minutes and making three straight to hold a slim 12-9 margin, with Dickson and Manir Waller combining for ten of those points.
• Montoursville graduate Lily Saul saw success competing in the mile for Rhode Island. She ended fourth out of 43 runners and set the Rhode Island sophomore record, and fifth all-time, with a time of 4:57.70.
