Jersey Shore hosted Lewisburg in swimming on Thursday afternoon. The Green Dragons defeated Jersey Shore in girls competition, 87-69. Jersey Shore didn’t have a boys team to compete as Lewisburg’s boys swam in events for times.
Kate Butzler and Reese Charney both turned in individual victories for the Bulldogs. Butzler won the 100 fly over Skylar Crosby thanks to swimming a time of 1:18.46, besting Crosby by seven seconds.
In the 100 breast, Charney swam a 1:26.07 to claim a win, beating Lewisburg’s Jilliane Donner by more than a second. Butzler was also a second-place finisher in the 100 back with a time of 1:18.38, behind Lewisburg’s Kimmy Shannon, who won in 1:11.67.
The Bulldogs’ 200 free relay team won in 2:07.31, winning the event by nine seconds and shaving two seconds off the group’s seeded time. The relay team was made up of Lila Nestlerode, Macy Wilton, Butzler and Charney.
Jersey Shore’s Rhian Prowell took third in the 100 breast in 1:37.40 and Alyssa STraub was a third-place finisher for the Bulldogs in the 100 back in 1:36.83.
Sierra Derr and Ciatlin Ross, both of Jersey Shore, finished second and third in the 400 free, respectively, behind Lewisburg’s Emma Gerlinski. Derr swam a 6:24.40 and Ross swam a 6:34.94.
Jersey Shore’s Macy Wilton took fourth in the 100 free in 1:12.98 and Nestlerode took fifth in 1:15.13. Shannon won for Lewisburg in 1:03.77 and Emma Hopkinson of Lewisburg took second in 1:08.91.
Nestlerode finished second in the 200 free with a time of 2:46.00, behind Lewisburg’s Emma Gerlinsi who took first (2:20.37). Prowell was third in 2:49.57.
Jilliane Donner of Lewisburg won the 200 IM in 2:49.39 and teammate Jillian Muchler was second (3:02.62). Jersey Shore’s Wilton took third in 3:04.82.
Lewisburg’s Shannon, Donner, Hopkinson and Gerlinski won the 200 medley relay race in 2:13.52. Jersey Shore’s Butzler, Charney, Wilton and Nestlerode finished second in 2:24.63. While the Bulldogs didn’t win, the time was a nine-second improvement of their seeded time.
In boys competition, Lewisburg’s Miles Fassero swam a 2:35.32 in the 200 IM and won the 100 breast in 1:21.56. Kieran Davis won the 50 free in 29.54 and Olin McIlwaine was second in 33.45. Mason Ordonez won the 100 free in 54.38, shaving roughly half a second off his seeded time in the process.
Lewisburg’s Ethan Zeh took first in the 400 free in 4:51.65 and Kieran Davis was second in 5:41.63. Zeh also won the 100 back in 1:14.39.
