NORTH MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. - A five-run second and four-run third inning were enough to help the Lycoming College softball team power past Division II Thomas Jefferson University, 9-0, in five innings in the team's 2024 opener at the North Myrtle Beach Park and Sports Complex on Sunday.

Senior center fielder Kylie Segraves, a Williamsport graduate, moved within a hit of 90 in her career, as she went 2 for 4 with two runs and three RBI, junior catcher Rachel Daub went 2 for 4 with two RBI and she also threw a runner out stealing and placed a tag on a runner tagging up to preserve the shutout in the fourth inning off a throw from Segraves. Sophomore first baseman Kristen George, a Montoursville graduate, also went 2 for 3 with two runs.

Junior Avery Eiswerth, a Williamsport graduate, (1-0) pitched four shutout innings, allowing six hits and a walk while striking out two before yielding to senior Kylie Russell, a Jerey Shore graduate, who tossed a scoreless fifth while allowing a hit and striking out two.

Sophomore left fielder Mallory Rodarmel, a Loyalsock graduate, and sophomore second baseman Alex Eckerson walked to start the second inning before George and Russell reached on errors to bring in the first run. After a flyout, Segraves hit a single up the middle to bring in two runs and Daub followed with a single off the pitcher to score another run. A two-out error helped Segraves cross the plate.
