Golf tip of the week: Some shots require less bounce than a sand wedge

A sand wedge is an excellent tool if used properly, but most golfers think they should use it anytime they are close to a green or bunker.

You may add strokes to your game if you always chip with a sand wedge.

Depending on the situation, for example, if you have a longer chip and plenty of green to work with, you may benefit by utilizing a less lofted club. A nine or eight iron will have less spin and be more accurate.

A sand wedge is not the club when hitting out of wet sand that is compacted. Try using a less lofted club with less bounce, such as a nine or pitching wedge.
