Jersey Shore fell in a boys track and field dual to Selinsgrove on Thursday afternoon, 118-32. Brodie Herr picked up a win for the Bulldogs in the 100 by running an 11.56, besting Selinsgrove’s Devon Mitchell, who ran an 11.63.
Jersey Shore’s Zack Kendall was a two-event winner for Jersey Shore as he won the 200 in 23.57 and the 300 hurdles in 41.41.
Jersey Shore’s Peyton Whitman took third in the long jump by leaping 18 feet, 3 1/2 inches.
In girls track and field, Jersey Shore fell to Selinsgrove in a dual meet, 110-40. Jersey Shore’s Anna Sick had an outstanding day. She earned a win in the 200 by running a 27.47, winning the event by just more than a second. Sick also was a second-place finisher in the 100 with a time of 13.10, behind only Selinsgrove’s Carly Aument.
Sick would also win the 400 in 1:03.46, winning by six seconds over Selinsgrove’s Sophia Lybarger.
Olivia Spotts won the javelin for the Bulldogs by throwing 92 feet, 11 inches, winning the event by roughly seven feet.
Jersey Shore’s Lucy Engel took second in the 800 in 2:49.96 and Birtukan Hartman was second in the 1,600 in 6:11.30 while Olivia Miller was third for the Bulldogs in 6:17.93. Miller also took second in the 3,200 in 13:18.00. Jersey Shore’s Alsion Bilbay took second in the discus by throwing 91 feet, 2 inches.
• Lewisburg improved to 5-0 in boys tennis thanks to a 5-0 win against Milton on Thursday afternoon. The Green Dragons’ three singles wins were all straight-set, 6-0, 6-0 victories.
Eddie Monaco IV (No. 1 singles), Will Cecchini (No. 2) and Sarthak Vishwakarma (No. 3) all won 6-0, 6-0.
In doubles action, Alexey Rosenberg and Canyon Swartentruber won at No. 1 doubles 6-1, 6-0 over Preston Reedy and Chris Hernandez. Lewisburg’s Grant Rowe and Luke Azeredo won at No. 2 doubles over Luke Mowery and Talen Strous, 6-1, 6-0.
• Mansfield’s softball team finished its PSAC Eastern Division road trip at Shippensburg as the Raiders picked up the softball sweep, 14-1 and 11-1.
In the first contest, Fallon Kelley marked the first run of the game, driving in Melissa Demo on an RBI single to start the first inning.
Shippensburg evened the score with their own run off a wild pitch for the 1-1 tie after the first.
Ten runs in the second inning marked the most for the Raiders in an inning this season to take the 11-1 advantage. Three more runs were scored in the next two innings to claim the 14-1 victory.
Game two saw the Raiders stick to the previous script, launching two home runs, including a grand slam, and ten runs across the first two innings of action to hold the 10-0 edge.
