SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. – The Lock Haven baseball team opened up its Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division slate with Shippensburg University on a windy Friday afternoon and fell twice on the road by scores of 4-1 and 3-0.

The Bald Eagles move to 7-27 overall and 4-18 in the PSAC East, while Shippensburg moves to 19-15 overall and 12-10 in conference play.

Lock Haven led the afternoon in hits, 13-12, but the Raiders pitching staff worked in and out of trouble in both contests to earn the sweep.

Both Lock Haven starting pitchers went the distance, keeping the bullpen fresh for the final two games against Shippensburg Saturday afternoon.

In game one, Shippensburg scored three runs through the opening three innings, while keeping Lock Haven at bay offensively to earn the victory in game one.

Lock Haven rallied for three consecutive singles in the top of the fourth to load the bases, but the Raiders worked out of trouble to keep The Haven scoreless.

Shippensburg added an insurance run in the fifth.

Lock Haven plated its lone run in the top of the sixth inning when Jake Ambrosio drove in Joseph DiSiena with an RBI-single.

Ambrosio led the Bald Eagle offense with two hits and an RBI.

Kevin Worek went all six innings on the mound for Lock Haven and struck out three hitters.

Game 2 Recap: Shippensburg 3, Lock Haven 0

Shippensburg sprinkled three runs across six at-bats, while holding Lock Haven off the scoreboard to earn the victory in game two.

Andrew Kramer pitched six quality innings for The Haven, limiting the Raiders as he only allowed one earned run and struck out a pair of hitters.

Lance Baldensperger led the Bald Eagle offense with a pair of singles.

The Bald Eagles welcome Shippensburg to Watkins Field Saturday afternoon at 1 and 3:30 p.m. to wrap up the PSAC East four-game series with the Raiders. The doubleheader also serves as the program’s Baseball vs. Cancer Game.
