Montoursville major softball advances to District 12 title game

Montoursville’s major softball team got one step closer to claiming a district championship on Monday evening by defeating Clinton in a rout.

Montoursville earned a 18-0 win over Clinton in Monday’s District 12 major softball winners’ bracket final and advanced to the championship game on Wednesday. The title game will be held at Lycoming College at 5:45 p.m.

Montoursville’s offense erupted in the first inning en route to a 13-0 lead. Montoursville led 14-0 after the second inning before putting the mercy rule into effect with a four-run third-inning performance.

Starting pitcher Harlee Hagemeyer earned the win for Montoursville and was relieved by Emma Sunderland and Kenzie Lundy, who all held Clinton scoreless. Montoursville had nine hits in the game.

Kaelyn Woodling and Trinity Belle both had two hits apiece and Montoursville didn’t commit an error at all defensively throughout the game.
