After three successful seasons at Wilson College, Shane Rottier has been tabbed to become the head women's basketball coach at Lycoming College, Director of Athletics Mike Clark announced.

"I would like to thank President Kent Trachte, Athletic Director Mike Clark, Associate AD Joe Guistina, and the selection committee for this incredible opportunity," Rottier said. "It's a true honor to be part of the tradition of Lycoming College women's basketball. We will work tirelessly to continue to raise the bar as we strive for academic and athletic success. I look forward to working with our current and future Warriors to compete at the highest levels and have a terrific student-athlete experience."

Rottier is the fifth head coach in Lycoming's women's basketball's 46-year history, taking over the program from Christen Ditzler, who retired on April 30 after 32 years at the helm.

"We are excited to welcome Shane in to continue the fine tradition of Lycoming women's basketball," Clark said. "Getting to know Shane throughout the search process, it was clear that he takes the responsibilities of being a coach seriously and really showed that he can be a great mentor to his student-athletes, just like Coach Ditzler was. I think he will relate to the team well and his competitiveness should keep Lycoming in the mix in the Landmark Conference year-in and year-out."

Rottier posted three seasons with double-digit wins at Wilson College, the first time in school history the team achieved that, during his three seasons as head coach from 2021-24. He also helped the Phoenix reach the postseason for three straight years for the first time in program history, as three of Wilson's nine 10-win seasons came under his watch. His .532 winning percentage (41-36) is tops in program history.

Rottier coached the team to two .500 or better seasons, including posting a 16-9 record in 2022-23, when the Phoenix finished 13-5 and earned the No. 2 seed in the Colonial States Athletic Conference Championship. Throughout his tenure, he coached seven all-conference selections, one conference rookie of the year and three Academic All-District selections. The Phoenix also hosted three postseason games during his three years at the helm.

Rottier came to Wilson after three seasons as an assistant women's basketball coach at Elizabethtown College, where he helped the Blue Jays to back-to-back post-season appearances, including finishing runner-up in the Landmark Conference Championship in 2018-19. The team went 19-7 that year, as the coaching staff earned the Landmark Conference Coaching Staff of the Year award.

Rottier also served two seasons as an assistant men's basketball coach at Thaddeus Stevens College, where he served as the program's recruiting coordinator and offensive coordinator. The Bulldogs earned the program's first appearance in the conference championship in nine years in 2018. Rottier has also coached several AAU and high school teams in the Central Pennsylvania region.

Rottier received a Bachelor of Science in business administration from California Coast University in 2015 and received a Master of Arts in coaching and athletic administration from Concordia University Irvine in 2017 and a Master of Science in coaching and exercise science from Concordia in 2019.

In addition to his work in higher education Rottier has nearly 20 years of professional experience in the private sector including management positions for e-commerce, online marketing, sales, and operations.
