Bloomsburg notes: Bloomsburg is about as dangerous a 1-3 team as one can find. The Panthers thumped 4A Central Mountain, 41-7 three weeks ago and their three losses are all against undefeated teams. Bloomsburg showed how dangerous it is a week ago, taking a fourth quarter lead against Warrior Run before losing, 38-24. The Panthers feature a good offense led by quarterback Wyatt Brosious. The junior went over 1,800 yards a year ago and threw for 209 yards with a touchdown against Warrior Run.
Jack Katulis has gone over 80 yards receiving twice and freshman Jharee Moore-Stewart has scored as a rusher, receiver and as a defensive back returning an interception. Dominick Rosini is another quality receiver and caught four passes, including a touchdown, last week. The defense has struggled in three losses, but took a shutout into the fourth quarter against Central Mountain. Katulis has an interception, as well as 1 1/2 sacks. Bloomsburg is eighth in the District 4 Class AA playoff standings and the top teams will qualify for districts.
Bloomsburg player to watch--Ryan Shuman: The senior linebacker was all over the field last week, collecting a career-high 16 tackles, including four for loss. Shuman averages nearly 10 tackles per game and had 13 in the Central Mountain victory.
Loyalsock PPA--28.0, PPA--20.8; YPG--344.8, YPA--249.3
Loyalsock notes: Loyalsock (3-1) has won consecutive games and the starting defense has not allowed a point in either one. A veteran offensive line has helped the offense surge as well with quarterback Danny Dowell and running back Dolan Harman both being among the area's leading passers and rushers. Harman has gone over 100 yards in all three wins and Dowell threw for a career-high 227 yards against Hughesville. Tight end Deryk Kulp and wide receiver Jalil Coates each have been consistent and Kashiem Richardson ran for a career-high 93 yards and a touchdown a week ago at Midd-West. Loyalsock scored touchdowns in all three phases during that victory with Coates returning a punt 70 yards for a score and defensive end Isaiah West a fumble 11 yards for another one. Jeremiah Johnson is a difference-maker on both sides of the ball and has seven tackles for loss to go along with three sacks. Linebacker Preston Gross leads the team in tackles and also has an interception. Anthony Lewis made a game-clinching interception in the season opener when Loyalsock edged Mifflinburg, 28-27. Loyalsock is seeking its 13th straight District 4 playoff berth.
Loyalsock player to watch--Chase Wright: The senior defensive back is playing football for the first time and making a nice impact, intercepting two passes. Bloomsburg features a pass-heavy offense, so Wright will play a key role in tonight's game.
Outlook: This could be one of tonight's more entertaining games. Both teams have the ability to put up yards and points. Look for the difference to be a turnover here or there.
