Local roundup: Williamsport boys, girls cross country teams see success

Williamsport beat Selinsgrove (21-28), Shikellamy (20-41), Central Mountain (23-36) and Jersey Shore (17-42) in a meet featuring five schools at Williamsport.
Central Mountain beat Selinsgrove (26-29), Shikellamy (22-39) and Jersey Shore (23-36) and the Bulldogs beat Shikellamy (28-29).
Williamsport's top finisher was Noah Scholnick, who ran a time of 17:32.36 to take second place behind only Shikellamy's Sam Hennett. Central Mountain's Damien Winner (7:56.31) and Samuel Wible (18:15.4) took fourth and fifth, respectively.
Williamsport's Noah Baird took sixth in 18;23.06 and Lauger Waldman took seventh in 18:35.18. Jersey Shore's Samuel Davis ran a 18:43.90 to take eighth.
Williamsport's girls cross country team beat Selinsgrove (20-40), Shikellamy (21-37), Central Mountain (24-32) and Jersey Shore (15-49) while Central Mountain beat Selinsgrove (25-32), Shikellamy (26-29) and Jersey Shore (15-46).
Williamsport's Izzy Sanders took first by running a 19:12.00, the only runner to break 20 minutes. Grace Keohane of Central Mountain took second in 21:09.00 and Clara Wade of Williamsport was a third-place finisher in 21:26.
Williamsport's Johanna Pelly took fifth (22.08.00) and Central Mountain's Gabriella Hosley took eighth in 22:49.00.
Warrior Run's Aiden Hoffman won a home meet with Bloomsburg, Montgomery, Mount Carmel and Southern Columbia. The Defenders' Hoffman ran a 17:21.00 to win. Warrior Run's David Royles ran a 18:54.00 for fourth and Michael Royles ran a 19:25.00 for fifth.
On the girls side, Warrior Run's Claire Dufrene broke 20 minutes in 19:49.00 to win the race as the Defenders' Keiara Shaffer was third in 21:31.00 and Brenna Pick was fourth in 22:03.00.
Lewisburg and Miltonc ompeted in a meet alongside Danville, Mifflinburg and Shamokin. Lewisburg's Jonathan Hess ran a 16:37.00 to take first place and Milton's Rex Farr finished second in 16:46.00. Lewisburg's Justin Nolt, Brady Ryder and Ian Cavanaugh took fourth, fifth and sixth, respectively, while Milton's Matthew Schreck was seventh and Tanner Bardole finished eighth.
On the girls side, Leiwsburg standout Baylee Espinosa ran a 19:00.00 to win the meet, the only runner to break 20 minutes. Lewisburg's Theo Wilkinson ran a 21:15.00 for eighth place and Maya Sak ran a 21:18.00 for ninth place. Milton's top finisher was Claire Dick, who ran a 22:55.00 for 15th place.
• Montgomery battled Sullivan County for the second time in three days and earned a 3-2 win to earn win No. 8 this season.
Montgomery needs just one more win to secure a second consecutive District 4 playoff berth.
"It is always difficult to play a team back-to-back the same week and come away with a sweep," Montgomery coach Michael Sherman said. "They adjusted well to our style fo play in which we held them scoreless in the 3-0 decision on Saturday."
Montgomery's goals came from Dylan Sherman, Dylan Hill and Xavier Koch. Sherman and Hill both had assists as well.
Muncy fell to Benton, 5-1. Austin Hartzel has Muncy's lone goal on an assist by Kohen Meyer as Bodie Moyer had seven saves.
Ayden Wheeland scored twice to give North Penn-Liberty a 3-1 win against Towanda.
Wellsboro blanked Northeast Bradford, 9-0, scoring five second-half goals in the Nothern Tier matchup. Micaiah Fitch and Alex Citrino both had two goals each for the Green Hornets, who out-shot Northeast Bradford, 27-2.
"NEB's offsides trap has been effective is disrupting our attack, but tonight the boys did a nice job executing a few solutions. They generated 27 shots on goal, kept a clean sheet, and we had six different players score goals," Wellsboro coach Todd Fitch said. "It was a solid performance to lead us into our final league and senior night game."
South Williamsport's Michael Yoas scored a goal in the 55th minute off an assist by Logan Harris to tie up the game against Millville, but a goal by the Quakers with 10 minutes remaining sealed Millville's 2-1 win against South Williamsport. Claudio Stangalino scored with 10 minutes to play to put Millville ahead.
• Warrior Run's Raygan Lust recorded a hat trick to give the Defenders a 4-1 win over Montoursville in girls soccer. The Warriors' goal came from Kenna Bennett in the second half.
Hughesville earned a 3-1 road win against Southern Columbia as Caradyn McGinley scored twice and Elizabeth Wolfe scored a goal. Kylie Temple had two assists for the Spartans.
Bella Pistoia scored the game's lone goal as Bloomsburg defeated Lewisburg, 1-0, with a second-half goal. Nora Hockenbrock had eight saves for the Green Dragons.
Williamsport came up just shy against Selinsgrove at the Millionaires' annual pink out game, 2-1. The Millionaires' goal came from Nylah Ford with an assist fro Emma Poole. Chloe Pennings recorded eight saves to keep Williamsport in the game.
• Central Mountain defeated Williamsport in straight sets in girls volleyball, 3-0 (25-10, 25-22, 25-13). Additional statistics were not available for etiher team.
Loyalsock fell to Lewisburg, 3-0 (25-14, 25-14, 25-15). Statistics for Loyalsock were not available. Elsa Fellon led Lewisburg with seven kills, six digs and two aces while Bawi Lang had nine digs. Ella Vance had five digs and three kills and Claire Chandler posted 10 assists and two digs.
North Penn-Liberty senior libero recorded her 500th career dig as the Mounties beat Cowanesque Valley, 3-0 (25-20, 25-18, 25-11). Junior middle Haley LItzelman dominated the action wtih 19 kills to go along with five blocks, two digs and an ace. Smith added 14 digs and was a steady contributor en route to her 500th dig.
Senior Maddy Youmans had 18 assists and eight digs and junior Kameron Lightner had 14 digs and 13 kills.
• The Lycoming College women's tennis team swept all doubles and singles matches, earning a 7-0 victory over Penn College. In No. 1 singles, senior Rei Saar, a Montoursville graduate, claimed a 6-1, 6-0 victory over Penn College's Ellen Buckley, and junior Emma Kelchner secured a 6-3, 6-1 win over Emlyn Kinley in No. 2 play.
• Only 90 seconds after re-entering the game off the bench, Zane Domsohn scored a dramatic 83rd-minute equalizer to help the Bucknell men's soccer team salvage a 1-1 draw at Binghamton. The Bison are now 4-4-3 on the season after sharing the points with the Bearcats (6-5-2) in a hard-fought non-league match.
Domsohn earned his first start of the season in this one, and head coach Dave Brandt re-inserted him as part of a triple change with about nine minutes to play and the Bison down 1-0. The junior forward made the move look good as he scored a nifty goal on the back end of a quick counter.
• Penn College shutout Cedar Crest, 2-0, in a non-conference women's soccer match. Wiley Egan scored her fifth goal of the season when South Williamsport graduate Piper Minier found her in the 19th minute to give Penn College a 1-0 lead. The Wildcats sent three more shots on frame in the opener but all were turned away.
After four shots on goal to start the second half were stopped, Megan Kurian buried Sierra Klinger's pass in the 80th minute for an insurance goal. It was Kurian's 16th goal of the season and set the program's freshman's record.
