Five Warriors named to All-Landmark women’s soccer team
After a stellar season where the Lycoming College women’s soccer team won a postseason game for the first time in the program’s 31 years, a program-record five student-athletes were selected to the 2024 All-Landmark team — sophomore Mikayla Long – a Lewisburg grad, junior Aubrey Williamson, sophomore Ella Magee, senior Haley Schafer, and junior Riley Block — the conference announced on Wednesday afternoon.
The conference recognized Long and Schafer as first-team selections and Williamson, Magee and Block as second-team picks.
Long, who ranked second in the league with nine goals, also led the Warriors to victory against Drew by notching all of Lycoming’s three goals in the 3-1, which earned her Landmark Conference Offensive Athlete of the Week honors on Oct. 28. Her 21 points tied her with Williamson and Magee for third in the league.
Schafer, who ranked sixth in the league with five assists, moved onto the first team as a defender after she was an honorable mention all-conference pick in 2023. Schafer assisted goals in five games – against Drew, Catholic, Scranton, Penn State Harrisburg and Delaware Valley. She was also key as she helped the team to a program-record 11 shutouts during the season.
Williamson, who led the league with nine assists, also broke the program record for career assists in the Landmark Conference Championship semifinal against Moravian with 20. She also added six goals, including game-winners against Keuka and Delaware Valley.
Magee also finished tied for second in the league in goals (9). She scored goals in eight of the team’s 20 games in 2024, also adding three assists. She earned Landmark Conference Offensive Athlete of the Week honors on Sept. 2, after she scored three goals and had an assist in the season’s opening two games. She posted game-winning goals against Mount Aloysius, Penn State Abington and Juniata.
Block led the Landmark Conference with a .881 save percentage, as she allowed just 12 goals in 17 games, pitching shutouts of conference opponents, Moravian, Juniata, Catholic, Wilkes and Elizabethtown. She also earned four Landmark Conference Defensive Athlete of the Week awards during the season.
Lycoming ended the 2024 season with a program record of 15 wins while finishing 15-3-2. It also won its first postseason game in the Landmark Conference Championship semifinal.
