MONTGOEMRY — Following a close loss for Montoursville in a toss-up match at 107 pounds and a a forfeit at 114, Montoursville junior Teli Bobotas knew he needed to snatch back some momentum for his team in a tough bout at 121 against Montgomery standout freshman Liam Seeley.
Bobotas wasted no time doing just that, locking up a cradle from neutral and getting a huge fall in just 29 seconds as Montoursville defeated Montgomery, 38-30, in a matchup of two of District 4’s top teams at Montgomery High School on Tuesday.
“(The cradle) was just there. And I saw it, he gave it to me, and I said thank you,” Bobotas said. “I sat down on the chair and a few matches went by, I realized that (it was an important win in the dual).”
There was no one else that Montoursville coach Matt Yonkin would rather have out there in a big spot in a dual than Bobotas.
“I don’t ever doubt Teli in those moments. If I had to pick a kid on the team to send out there in those moments, Teli would be the guy. He did his job tonight. He did what we expected him to do, and he did what he trains himself to do,” Yonkin said.

RALPH WILSON/Sun-Gazette Correspondent Montoursville's Landon Morehart defeats Montgomery's Ethan Hugar at 285 pounds during a high school dual meet at Montgomery on Tuesday, Jan. 21, 2025.
It was an important win in the dual indeed. It was a match that Montgomery was surely hoping that their talented freshman bumping up a weight classs could find a way to win. But, despite the quick conclusion to the match, it’s a match that Montgomery coach Denny Harer would love to see again.
“I’d like to see 121 over again, so I’d like to see that match play out instead of getting caught there but, I mean, and Teli’s a great kid, but I feel we could’ve been in that match and it was just an unfortunate situation of what happened and we fell into that. That’s part of the sport. We learn and grow, we get better from it,” Harer said.
The dual started at 189, and Montgomery’s Coy Bryson wasted little time, getting fall in just 48 seconds to put Red Raiders up 6-0. But, two dominant performances at 215 and 285, a technical fall from Owen Kleinman over Evan Hugar and a pin of Ethan Hugar by Landon Morehart, but Montoursville up 11-6.
The marquee match of the night came at 107 in a matchup of state-ranked wrestlers in No 10th-ranked Red Raider Manny Stoltzfus and No. 11th-ranked Warrior Branden Eisenhour.
The match lived up to the billing and then some.

After Stoltzfus scrambled out of a takedown attempt early in the opening frame, freshman Eisenhour took control of the match late in the first period with a takedown just seconds before time expired to take an important early 3-0. After Stoltzfus escaped early in the second period, he immediately dove in on a leg of Eisenhour’s, but was unable to convert as the second period was a scoreless one. Stoltzfus chose to grant the escape to Eisenhour to start the third period. He got in on a low single midway through the period and worked his way to a match-tying takedown. He found a way to get a crucial rideout of Eisenhour, sending the match to sudden victory tied at 4. There, he wasted little time getting in on the legs of Eisenhour, switching off to a double-leg, and driving through for the winning takedown in a huge swing match in the dual.
“It’s great match for both of them. Both of them got better wrestling that match. It’s a good match to watch,” Harer said. “Manny’s so strong. He’s got to find a way to get to a leg, and when he gets the legs, he scores. He found a way to get the leg, and he scored,”
After Montoursvile forfeited to Ian Marquette at 114 and Bobotas beat Seeley at 121, the teeth of the Montoursville lineup continued to thrive. State-qualifier David Kennedy pinned returning regional qualifier Porter Hall in 2:36 at 127, and another state-qualifier in Blaize Vogel got his 99th career win with a pin of his own over Gaige Reynolds.
Montgomery state champion Brandt Harer received a forfeit at 139 and Montoursville’s Karter Stone limited Max Furman III to just a decision, as Furman won 10-3 at 145.
At 152, Cameron Woltz used an early takedown to work for a quick cradle, and got the fall in just 29 seconds over Steven Butler to give Montgomery a 30-29 lead with two weights remaining. But, with a Montgomery forfeit coming at 172 to Montoursville’s Gage Wentzel, Warrior Hayden Harvey beat Raiden Felix 9-2 to seal up the dual, and likely the district’s top seed in next week’s District Duals.
