By KENNY VARNER 2 min read

BELLEFONTE- Three consecutive forfeits proved too much for the Bellefonte girls wrestling team to comeback from in their contest against Jersey Shore. In the end, the Bulldogs held onto the 33-6 victory.

Starting the match at 136, the Bulldogs' Ruby McClain muscled out a hard-fought 9-8 decision over Bellefonte's Ella Johnsonbaugh. Jersey Shore continued in its winning ways at 170, with Isabella Gottschall pinning Bellefonte’s Bailee Scott at 2:27 before Olivia Spotts rounded out the night by picking up the team’s second pin at 2:40.

Bellefonte's lone win came at 124. Carly Bair wasted little time pinning Gracie Hostrander with a fall at : 32.

Things came easy for Jersey Shore following its opening win. The Bulldogs’ Lyla Confer won by forfeit. The same happened at 148 when Taylor Ross also won by forfeit. Rounding out the easy wins for the Bulldogs was Addison Doyle who also won by forfeit at 155.

With the win, the Jersey Shore girls wrestling team improved to 2-3 on the season and will look to try to get back to .500 at Shamokin on Thursday. For Bellefonte (1-2), the team may have wrestled its final dual of the season barring changes to its schedule. If that’s the case, they’ll return to action in late February for districts.
