Williamsport headed into Tuesday’s dual meet against Shamokin at the Magic Dome looking for their first dual win of the season. With the way they wrestled up and down the lineup, the Millionaires left no doubt that Tuesday would be the night to get them into the win column.
Williamsport won all six contested bouts in a dominant performance, as they beat visiting Shamokin, 57-18.
“We went out and we were aggressive and looked for the falls. We wrestled a really tough schedule up to here with the events that we go to. I think that you saw that tonight, a little bit,” Williamsport head coach Brian Nasdeo said.
Williamsport has indeed wrestled a brutal schedule this season, a schedule that has included tough tournament like the Top Hat, King of the Mountain, the Bethlehem Holiday Classic and last weekend’s PHAC Championships. While the records may not jump off the page, the Millionaires are battle-tested.
That was evident from the start on Tuesday night. After Shamokin received a match-opening forfeit, Jordan Piselli led things off with a bang for Williamsport. He built a 13-2 lead after the first period via three takedowns and a turn for four nearfall points. Then he started second period on top and quickly worked for a fall to even up the team score at 6-6.

Hunter Neuhard followed at 114 and led 6-5 after a first period that saw each wrestle notch a takedown and a reversal. After Neuhard controlled the second period from the top position, he used an offensive flurry in the third period to win, 21-7. It didn’t take Lauger Waldman anywhere close to the full six minutes to get a win. Waldman scored right off the whistle with a great blast double, and quickly transitioned into working for the fall. He secured the pin just 41 seconds into the match.
Waldman’s win capped off an impressive showing from a crop of young Millionaire lightweights. Those three, plus Colin Nasdeo at 127, could do some real damage in the postseason.
“I’m feeling confident. I think we’re have a real nice group of kids in the lower weights from 107 through 127,” Nasdeo said.
Williamsport got three straight forfeits at 127, 133 and 139 to open up a 34-6 lead.
At 145, Jakhi Burget won a great scramble at the edge of the mat early in the first period when it looked like he was sure to give up a takedown. Instead, he countered for a takedown of his own. From there it was smooth sailing. Burget got two full sets of nearfall points in the first period. Then he turned a quick takedown to start the second period into more back points to win via technical fall, 17-1.

At 152, Austin Dunlap gave up an early takedown to Trey Taylor. But the Milionaire quickly got an escape, recorded a takedown of his own and stacked Taylor up for another Williamsport pin at the one-minute mark of the first period.
The last contested match of the evening came at 170. Senior Malon Lee, the lone Williamsport senior in the lineup on senior night, needed just 23 seconds to work for a fall of his own to cap off a dominant Millionaire performance.
Williamsport hosts traditional power Central Mountain on Thursday night.
