CM, Williamsport see success on first day of Class AAA swimming championships

The first day of Class AAA competition got underway on Friday morning at Bucknell for the state swimming championships with preliminary races.

Central Mountain senior Camryn Bair finished 13th in the girls 50 free after she swam a time of 24.30 in the B finals. In the A finals, State College’s Molly Workman won state gold in 22.44.

Earlier in the day, Bair swam a time of 24.21 in the 50 free, shaving time in her event, to reach the B finals.

Bair holds six individual school records at Central Mountain and is part of two relay teams which broke records.

By reaching the B finals on Friday, Bair became the first Central Mountain swimmer to ever finish with two top-15 results at the state meet. Bair finished 10th last year in the 50 free. The only other Central Mountain swimmer to place was Nate DeCapria in 2001, who took seventh in the 100 back.

Bair will compete on Saturday in the 100 breast and will look to become Central Mountain’s first top-8 finisher in girls competition if she can make the A finals.
