Montoursville knew it would have to play outstanding to defeat Lewisburg, the No. 1 seed in the District 4 Class AA team tournament.

The Warriors gave it their all, but came up shy of advancing to the team tournament semifinals as Montoursville fell to Lewisburg, 3-0.

Lewisburg won two singles matchups to help secure the victory. Will Cecchini won at No. 1 singles over Montoursville’s Teli Bobotas, 6-1, 6-1. At No. 2 singles, Lewisburg’s Alexey Rosenberg earned a 6-2, 6-1 win over Rain Snyder. Rosenberg’s win was the first finished match, securing a 1-0 lead for the Green Dragons.

In doubles action, Lewisburg’s Henry Heintzelman and Tyson Nicholls beat Cullen Pauling and Colby Ulmer, 6-1, 6-3. That win gave Lewisburg a 2-0 lead over the Warriors.

It was Cecchini’s win at No. 1 singles which clinched the Green Dragons’ win over Montoursville.

At No. 3 singles, Montoursville’s Gio Catino led Luke Azeredo, 6-3, 3-2 in the second set. Lewisburg’s Colby Jacob and Olin McIlwaine led Mason Fry and Mason Morrow at No. 2 doubles, 6-4, 2-2 in the second set.
