PCT softball concludes season in regional championship game

CLEVELAND, OHIO – Penn College’s season came to a close for the second consecutive year in the NCAA Regional Championships as the Wildcats fell, 5-1 to third-seeded Lebanon Valley College in an NCAA Division III Cleveland Region elimination game on Friday afternoon. The Wildcats dropped to 28-17, while the Dutchmen improved to 30-14.

LVC used a four-run third inning to break open a scoreless game. Penn College fought back in the bottom of the frame when Grace Lorson scored on a Dutchmen error. The Wildcats put runners on during both of the fifth and sixth innings but could not cut into the lead.

Lorson and Payton Crawford led the offense with a pair of hits each while Harley Kunes, Astyn Calaman and Mackenzi Tice also notched a hit.

Tice went 2.1 innings, surrendering two hits with one strikeout in the loss to finish her freshman season with a 13-7 record. Mackenzie Weaver finished the final 4.2 innings with three Ks and four hits allowed.
